I read a comment on another board that Robben's speaker of choice is the EV 12L with that huge magnet, rated at 200 watts. I did a quick search on this Board but EV 12L did not pop up. Is it the case that Robben has EV 12L's installed in all his speaker cabs? Thanks, Gill in Houston.

Robben hasn't used EV's in ages. Larry still uses them (or one of them).

During the BlueLine era Robben was using 4-12 Marshall cabinets and later had two Celestion 65s stuck in his 2-12 tweed Dumble cabinet. He's experimented with a few other speakers, notably recently using Eminence Tonkers which turned out to sound great but be too efficient and loud. According to Daved's last post on the subject, Robben has reverted to the C65's in the tweed cab and is using a prototype smaller magnet Tonker in his back up 2-12. Last time I looked in the back of his Deluxe Reverb, there was also a C65 in there. EMI makes some speakers similar to the C65 like the Tonespotter and the TwoRock 65 clone, but Robben doesn't seem to have found them preferable to the C65's he has.
