Hi everyone! I'm a guitar instructor by trade, and a player since 1968. I grew up on The Beatles, Allman Bros., Classic Rock, Blues, Western Swing, Country, and Jazz influenced Rock and Blues. I play and teach Electric, Acoustic, and Bass.
Listening to Steely Dan, Robben, Larry, and Lee in the '70's changed my life. Rock, Blues and Jazz styles played with passion and taste! Just what the doctor ordered.
The recent RF/LC live shows on the east coast are what finally got me over here. I'm writing, and playing some original tunes with a new group. No gigs yet, but Robben and Larry are big influences.
I hope to gain some insight, (and offer some too) on Robben's playing. It's great to find a forum dedicated to "real" music.

Cool Welcome aboard! And what part of NorCal? (It's a big state -- and thanks for the water, by the way.)

Growing up in farming country here in SoCal, my folks were big Western Swing fans. So much so that when my Dad took us all up to Davis so he could do graduate work at UCD in agriculture, they thought it was wonderful that they could drive down the road for the free shows put on by Spade Cooley ... who was then at the California prison facility in nearby Vacaville ... for murdering his wife. (Why let a little domestic problem get in the way of your enjoying good dance music?)

Let's face it. Without Western Swing there might never have been a Leo Fender. And with no Leo Fender, well ... we might all be just doing new arrangements of "How Much Is That Doggy In The Window."

But I digress. Welcome again, and here's looking for many more postings.
