Hello Daved:
I was just curious. Has anyone put together a complete listing of Robben's work? I was doing a search on the web for such and accidently discovered a few songs Robben did with Garth Webber. Not only did I find another great guitarist, but I found a new friend.
I'm an advocate of supporting music thru proper channels and am against the idea of file sharing, i.e. Limewire and other such services. A neighbor was demonstrating Limewire to me and said - just do a search of your favorite artist and see what comes up. First off, I was amazed at how many Robben Ford recordings came up - many of which I had never heard of ...
I then did the same search on the networks where such songs could be purchased and Robben's material was limited by comparison. I would love to load my ipod with a bunch of the Robben material. Do you know of a legitimate way this can be done on a song by song basis?

Michael: I have a pretty good Robben library that's come from two sources: iTunes, and the used CD rack at a local independent store. Amazing what sort of stuff I've found under "F" in the blues section at the latter.
While Robben doesn't get a dime from used CD sales, I think he gets 30 cents or so from each iTunes sale. Which is certainly OK by me. As for file sharing: It's only a matter of time before it's all legit, and the music business figures out some other way to make money. Like maybe from live performances? And maybe putting some promotional money into musicians who play 50-seat clubs, as opposed to spending every promotional dime on five or six acts that can fill a stadium. Who knows? Right now the mainstream music business seems to be acting like those horse-and-buggy operators who tried to restrict the use of the internal cumbustion engine -- talking like that newfangled "automobile" was just some sort of fad. I recall that the Major League's baseball teams tried the same thing with that newfangled invention, radio, claiming that broadcasting games live would ruin the business.
Maybe someday someone will invent a guitar that uses electricity and goes through some sort of amplifier so that you can hear it over the piano and horns in the dance band. _________________ - BlueRunner

Oh man U kill me /MLLLLLLLL
It's not really that "PC" to be against file sharing ... as most people really do expect to get something for nothing. It's crazy to be scoffed at for not wanting a free ride. There's a difference between sharing and ripping people off.
