Well, I woke up this morning with my shoulder still hurting from my recent surgery, opened up the Arts section of the San Diego Union Tribune newspaper, and my spirits rose drastically............The 2006 schedule for Humphrey's By The Bay in San Diego was released. And, guess who's coming to town on Thursday, October 12........the Larry Carlton Blues Project featuring Robben Ford! (Dave Mason is also on the bill.) Ticket price is $40.00 and will go on sale next Saturday at the HBTB ticket office & all Ticketmaster outlets. Needless to day, this fledgling, aging, former guitarist will be there with bells on! I'm sure this info will brighten the day for those of you in the southern California area.......unless you decide to hop on an airplane and travel to San Diego! |

Got my tickets this morning and will be traveling from Texas just to see this show. After hearing about their show a couple weeks ago there was no way I was going to miss this if given the opportunity. Anybody else going? Someday hopefully I can see Robben with his band without having to travel to one of the coasts.
Maybe Howard will even have Robben's dumbles back in action by this time. Dueling Dumbles how great would that be! Although the Super/Zen setup sounded great during the Mayall tour. |

I got mine this morning also........you were talking about the San Diego concert, right? What section are your seats in.......possibly we can say hello to each other at the show. Our tickets are for Section A3. Though it's quite a few months before the show, I'm excited........I last saw Robben play at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, CA about 7-8 years ago.......just after Tiger Walk was released. Also, I'm planning on attending one of Robben's clinics in Ojai, CA, if one is scheduled for the Fall (Oct/Nov). Anyway, glad to hear another discussion board member got tickets. |

Glad you got tickets as well. I am in B3 row 8. I would be surprised if more forumites don't catch this show. I got to see Robben last year with John Mayall's band. It was great, but six songs just isn't enough!
Definitely go to one of Robben's clinics if you can. It is well worth the time and expense. I went to one in 2003 and will go again as soon as I can. Just the opportunity to hear Robben discuss his influences, how he approaches playing guitar, and the chance to ask him questions was amazing. To watch and listen to him play through his Deluxe Reverb from six feet away is a thing of beauty. He is so casual about it, as if you were just sitting in the living room together. But, you know you are in the presence of greatness. |

It looks like my wife & I will be in the section directly in front of you......Section A3, row 4, seats 12-14. A very good drummer-friend of mine, Bill Sylvester, also got tickets in our section, though a few rows back. His girlfriend and my wife and I will more than likely go somewhere after the concert for a glass of wine & food........possibly you'd like to join us? It would be nice meeting another Robben fan, particularly someone travelling all the way from Dallas to see him. Let me know. |
