This is the ultimate in "the show must go on" mentality! If you go, take your own FEMA trailer to stay in - cuz they still haven't shipped em down there!

(one name leaps out from the list - Susan Cowsill)!!!

Anyone going? I'm starting to make plans to attend at least the second weekend. Even though the first is maybe just as killer for me, friends i'm riding with can only make the second. Either one, it's a music soaked couple of three days.

Can't make it to New Orleans this weekend (or next) ? No problem, mix up a pitcher of Hurricanes and move a comfortable chair in front of your computer screen. Today, there will be live webcasts from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. I've been viewing videos this morning on MSN Music from Friday's shows -- The Keb' Mo' and Anders Osborne clips are great! I'd imagine lots of other sites will host video coverage from the Jazz fest as well. MSN will also archive these videos for viewing on-demand. The MSN video link is:

http://music.msn.com/music/neworleansjazz/video

HURRICANE INGREDIENTS:

2 oz light rum
2 oz dark rum
2 oz passion fruit juice
1 oz orange juice
juice of a half a lime
1 Tbsp simple syrup
1 Tbsp grenadine
orange slice and cherry for garnish

PREPARATION:

1. Squeeze juice from half a lime into shaker over ice.
2. Pour the remaining ingredients into the shaker.
3. Shake well.
4. Strain into a highball glass.
5. Garnish with a cherry and an orange slice.

P.S. If anyone finds full streaming video of Bob Dylan's 90-minute performance please post the link for me. Thanks!

The webcast from New Orleans has been unbelievable!

It started at 3PM with Sonny Landreth. They showed 5 or 6 songs from Sonny's set, then broke to Keb' Mo' for 5 or 6 songs (which might have been taped yesterday?). They showed the last two songs by Galatic, followed by Dr. John. Allen Toussaint w/ special guest Elvis Costello played 1 whole hour ! Allen was wearing a yellow jacket, very similar to the one Robben has! Allen was great (It was my first time seeing him !) Elvis played the title track song from his upcoming release, The River in Reverse. BeauSoleil was followed by a church gospel group and then Anders Osborne (with a Tuba player in his band!). I'm watching John Mooney right now! I'm looking forward to seeing Bruce Springstein and the Seeger Sessions Band in a bit!

The camera work has really good and the sound is great through my cheapo computer speakers. There has been one 15-second commercial break every hour, but aside from that it's all live video from the festival.

I hope I'm not drinking alone... Razz
