Kirk95: I would love to help, particularly as I know that advertisers take these things seriously, and might like to know that from time to time I actually click on links, look at advertiser web sites, investigate and buy products. Unfortunately, after answering nearly all questions, the survey won't allow me to submit my answers because I haven't answered a few that deal with very personal or financial info that I'd prefer not to disclose, but which the survey says are "required." Is there any way to tweak the survey so that it will accept a submission that leaves out some answers? _________________ - BlueRunner |

Hi , In Europe we have a very CAREFUL attitude with that kind of things , we in France have even a commission against that kind of "surveys". It smells too much like BIG BROTHER (Georges Orwell 1984) for me granted you are making money out of this and not necessarly doing it for the sake of MUSIC. BlueLobster.

The only way to link answers to you (specifically) is if you fill in the optional email address at the end of the survey. That field I purposely made optional so members could anonymously participate in the survey.
So if you don't fill in the email, and most people don't, your answers are not personally identifiable. In fact, they are totally anonymous. The survey is not connect or matched to any of our Online Discussion member lists!!! It has it's own completely separate database.
The intent of the survey is not to collect personally identifiable information on anyone, it's to understand the charactoristics of the user base and sollicit some user feedback for the purpose of:
#1> Improving the Service
#2> Making sure we're providing services the userbase wants and values
#3> Understanding what new sites and services the userbase is interested in
#4> Finally, to demonstarte the loyaly and value of the userbase to potentil advertise
No personally idendifiable information will be disclosed to anyone.
Only aggregate information will be shared with adverstisers. For example:
20% of our users have Graduate Degrees
50% of our users have household incomes over $75K per year
97% of our users have Personal Non-Business Studios
92% of our users play Guitar
32% of our users have played guitar for over 30 years
70% of our users subscribe to Guitar Player Mag
57% of our users plan to spend over $2000 on instruments/ assessories in the next 12 months
50% of our users buy more than 20 CDs per year
70% of our users visit the Online Discussion Network (ODN) daily
92% of our users have at least one ODN site in their bookmarks
30% of our users have purchase a product based seeing an ad on the ODN
Now that's a story for advertisers. BUT, it's also completely anonmous for you the users!
So please fill out our survey! It's really going to help us improve the service!
Ok... back to work... I have two new boards in the works... we will be launching later today.......... Based on survey feedback BTW! _________________ www.hendersounds.com

This survey is completely within the acceptable guidelines of all Domestic and International Privacy standards.
Please, do not spin this into what it is NOT!
#1> No personally identifiable information will be shared with any outside 3rd party's. I don't know how to be any more explicit than that?
#2> Also, if you don't fill in an email address, and this field is optional, then there is no personally identifiable information.
There is no commission anywhere in the world that would have a problem with this survey! _________________ www.hendersounds.com

Hmmm....if some of us put our town or country of origin, revealing our identity is a bit of a no-brainer....
I can always put some fake information in there....I mean what's the target profile for the advertisers?
- male
- rich
- bored
- stupid
- guitar player
- ...

Well maybe you could in some cases connect the dots... but I am telling you we are not doing that... It says it on the survey and it says it in this thread...
We are not sharing any personally idendifiable information! How else can I make you believe me?
I understand that the rest of the world abuses your privacy on a daily basis BUT WE DON'T. You have my word......
If that's not good enough for you, then don't take the survey! _________________ www.hendersounds.com

FYI -- I wasn't overly concerned about the privacy issues and did attempt to fill out the survey. At the end (after hitting "submit" or whatever the button said), it complained that I hadn't completed the mandatory fields about "suggestions for improving the forum" (or similar). But the empty boxes wouldn't accept input, and upon using the back button, all of my previously entered data was missing. I gave up...

This was my experience as well. I don't mind participating in these things at all. My Web-Mail has a great spam filter. I even bought my Mother her Mothers Day gift using the link to Amazon.com
Don't forget gents (US) it's this Sunday. _________________ The last of the Worlds Great Human Beings |
