My first good guitar was bought in a pawn shop in 71, and after 3 months of payments I received my beauty, a 68 blonde Tele for $175, sure wish I had that baby now. I've always loved tele players ( Gatton, Collins, Roy B, Robben ) and when I first heard Robben Ford 15 - 20 yrs ago, I was blown away, his tone was incredible and those bluesy jazz licks and what a voice, he's truly one of my favorites.
I've been lurking for a spell and you seem like a great bunch with much musical knowledge. the last time I saw Robben was in a blues bar here in Minnesota and he was playing his Tele on most songs, as a matter of fact, that's the case in most live performances I've seen him. thanks for the bite.

And my first good guitar was bought in a pawn shop in 65... Very Happy

I believe it's been mentioned in this forum before, that many of its members have the same pawn shop first guitar experience...

Welcome, collinsman! And, you're absolutely correct- this is "a great bunch with much musical knowledge."

Thanks for the vibe Johnny Z ! so is the tele still your main axe ? I'm still trying to get that Ford tone and am wondering if that " Zen Drive " would do it.

Well, I really don't have a main axe- I switch around... Very Happy

But, as far as getting that Ford tone, there've been many, many remedies professed in this forum, including and especially the Zendrive, as well as some fantasy cures such as Robben Tone in a can. Oh yes, how can I forget the many formulas to clone Robben's Dumble (the amp, not an anatomical part)... Laughing

Anyway, stick around, and enjoy the conversation!
