OK, so USA, Mexico, Netherlands are all out (sorry 'bout that leftbender and jazzblues). I suppose you Brits are happy that Beckham can still bend it (any words of wisdom from Ron S., Barrie, diatonicdude?).
And of course, Bluelobster is waiting in the wings for France to do something marvelous.
Probably the best thing about the World Cup is that it's been on the TV here on the West Coast U.S. while I've been at work. So I haven't had to agonize through any of it. _________________ - BlueRunner |

...and the Swedes and the Roos...
major bummer.
The games are on while I am at work, too, but I go down to the student lounge with the foreign grad students and profs and hang out and watch - and take some "work" with me, of course. |

France sucks. French team supersucks. A bunch of selfish & spoiled bratty
couch potatoes. Too much money involved just like in music industry. The talent just die. They are just the perfect picture of the country by now.
Anyway i've never liked team sports . I always hated them since a long long time & all the bloody fuss pairing with like : nationalism, opium for the masses.
All this being said i must admit i wish they win against spain, because i would have a great crack up if they have lost against Togo. Hope it 's clear. |

Can't vouch for Barrie or DD but I've never watched a game of football in my life! Sorry!

I must say "yes" Telefunk. Might be part of the french "way of being "??
Listening to Radios early in the morning ( needless to say there was a STROOOONNNNNGGGGG feeling ) i learned that they didn't want any money unless they go for sure . That mean they just start to get Xtra money from now. Apart this sordid bizness stuff. France / Brazil
Great. |

Finally...but I was sad to see the Spanish go. They never do very well despite the awesome talent in their possession. I was also hoping for a big upset by Ghana. I have to say that, for better or worse, my money's on Germany. |

Thay's why your so bl**dy good at playing the guitar! All that practice time made available
Anyway, I personally love the world cup, but I am not mad on football (I don't follow the premiership, etc). I am, however, focusing on my penalty taking skills as you read this so I may get a place in the England team next time round
Cheers,

Well Bluerunner i am really thinking about how cool it would be sipping some whatever drink and talking about that in real time .
Frankly , nope . I am rather the kind of guy who laugh when everybody cries and vice & versa.
And soccer wise , it is not a big glory to win over Brazil by now.
Where was the magic of Braaaaaaaaazziiiiiiiiillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll ? nowhere
, ahhhhhh yes may be in Zidane ????????????
But Blue runner can you believe we french " home of the brave, land of the right of human beings " are so racists in our own country, unable to achieve what intellectuals call integration, and suddenly everybody is suspended to one guy : Zinedine Zidane . And everybody feels he is entitled to have him for personnal pleasure like in Rock Music , like us with Robben , like some with .....................
So Zinedine became Zizou , like Gregory become Greg and so on .
Even the most racist guy in town will say Zizou with tears comin' out.
What screw me is that in "soft" slang Zizou means Pee-wee or Peter green ohh you got me .
Down with urban societies, down with me , down . |

France-Germany final, then? Portugal has a chance of getting past the French, but not much if Zidane keeps playing like he did against Brazil. As for Italy, I haven't been impressed so far and I think the Germans will do whatever it takes. |

So, Blobby, how do you really feel about the French WC team?!!!
Ooops, sorry, doesn't WC mean something that us Americans mostly don't understand?!
Anyway, not a big soccer/football fan, but I'm glad to see the favorite team Brazil out. It'll be interesting to see the rest...
Please, no one hate me, but go Portugal! I like underdogs... |

I guess the Germans instead of a Pizza (as reported in the German Press) will eat a big slice of humble pie today!!!
See you in the final Blobby |

the good thing about this championship is that "our" Austrian team does not take part. So people switch their patriotism every day. My 9 year old son paints new T-shirts every day with the flag of the team he supports that day. He already had Swiss, Argentinian and Italian dresses, today he paints a French shirt. For myself I will yell for France tonight, should they win I will yelll for Italy at the final :-) |

So France won! Great comeback story but they're wreaking havoc on my chances of winning the soccer pool...Should be an interesting pair of finals. |
