Great site - just registered here.
can anyone give me a couple of examples of how I might apply some of scott's sub ideasa to say a major or minor blues ?
I'm just beginning to get my jazz chops together moving from Rock and blues into jazz
It was listening to Robben led me this way.
PS : Scott has been a great inspiration to me while building my ODS style amp - great guy and a great player too.
TIA

Dimished triads and da blues...
Key of A
On the A7 - you can play C# dim (major 3rd Mixo sound) F# dim (minor 3rd blues sound)
On the D7 - F# dim
On the E7 - G# dim
Now you can also play these a half step up from the root to get b9s. So play Bb dim going from the 1 chord A7 to the 4 chord D7 or F dim on the 5 chord E7 going back to one.
Scott will also play II Vs going the IV chord. So that would be E-7 A7 to D7. Play an F# major triad on that A7 going to D. Scotty does that all the time....or play G triad to F# triad to the D7....
There's a start....... _________________ www.hendersounds.com

I really appreciated and enjoyed those suggestions - please keep 'em coming. I feel my playing is just about as stale as it gets and I could could certainly do with some fresh ideas. I always felt this part of the forum was being neglected so it's good to see this sort of input here. Thanks Kirk (and Scott, too)!!! _________________ "Creativeness often consists of merely turning up what is already there. the lessons look great to even someone who has no concept on how to read musical notation... which im sure is a four letter word around here... _________________ www.myspace.com/gregory49 |
