The first question that came to my mind was, if this was made to Robben's personal specifications, why the heck isn't he playing it?

Daved, do you know anything about this guitar?

The fact that Robben has never played it much, and isn't playing it anymore, speaks volumes.

I am sure it is a very fine Telecaster, but it isn't worth much more than any other Fender Masterbuilt guitar in my estimation.

In the description, it's mentioned that it's a shorter scale neck, 24.75", like a Les Paul rather than the standard 25.5" Tele neck. I've always wondered what the playing difference (and/or any other difference) is between the two lengths. Can someone please explain? Thanks.

I remember seeing the same guitar on Ebay a fey years back, but it was running for 2-3000$, if I remember well. It was also featured in one of the Fender history books I saw.

IMHO 20.000$ is wishful thinking, unless a dot.com millionaire turns up.

With the same size/gauge set of strings on both guitars, the longer string (scale) is tighter when tuned to the same note as the shorter string. This can feel a little stiffer (kinda like a heaver gauge maybe) and is more resistant to bends.

I thinka Robben was pictured with that Tele in a Guitar Player issue from the 90's.
