This is a youtube video of Robben at The Mean Fiddler, November 2006. I know the video is dark, but is that Robben's new Baker (the dark one) that you installed the 59 Pretender pickups in at Robbens request?

Nope, that's not a Baker. It is the new custom guitar Robben picked up in Japan, I believe. The name escapes me, it's on another thread here in the forum.

Thanks! Found it. Holy Crap, that is one nice looking guitar! I didn't realize the guitar he used on Jing Chi Live at Yoshi's was one as well. I always thought that was a Baker Crucible.

Minor correction:
This guitar was not "picked up in Japan".
The guitar is a Sakashta, made by a Japanese luthier who lives and works in northern California.

Hi Daved:
THANKS for jumping in! I've been on the Sakashta Guitars web site. BEAUTIFUL guitars! If possible could you tell me what pickups are in the the Indian (Jing Chi guitar) and the newer Noupaul model?

I'm not sure which P/u's are in the Blond Sakashta at the moment.
But Robben did tell me that the NouPaul p/u's are Jim Rolph '59s. _________________ B C-ing U!

THANKS Daved! I appreciate the reply! I was curious about the pickups in the blonde Sakashta more at the time he used it to record Jing Chi Live at Yoshi's than any other time, as I LOVE the tone on that album. The Jim Rolph 59's sound great in the new one.

I was at Yoshi's three of those nights, including one of the nights they recorded, and I don't remember him playing the Sakashta very much. Most of that is the trusty Tele. He had some other oddballs like the Epi Rivera as well, but only played a song or two the whole weekend on them. I think he was trying different things for the recording but eventually settled on old faithful. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.
