I don't know if this has been posted here yet. With Letterman's band and Bruce Willis. Bruce steps on Robben's solo a bit.

That was the first time I had seen that. Thank you for sharing it. Do you know when it was on Letterman? I have to say that I already didn't care too much for Willis and now I even like him less for butting into Robben's solo.

Boy! Robben was smokin'! Bruce was better than I expected, too. He's no Mark Ford, but he's not bad. It looked to me like his stepping on Robben's solo was just poor communication. Bruce was looking the other way instead of watching Robben like he should have been. As usual, Robben was very gracious and adjusted smoothly to the unexpected change.

Okay. The gremlin strikes again. I replied and it didn't look like it went through so I hit refresh and it posted twice. Sorry about that.

Bruce is an actor, not a professional musician. He froze, because if you listen to the recorded tune, it cycles the main melody twice before going into the solo section, and on Letterman you can hear Robben wanting to go through the melody again but Bruce got nervous or blanked out and went straight to the solo section. Give the guy credit, he's a pretty good harp player, and he put his ass out there in front of millions doing something he's not known for.

I concurr, Red. I'm not a big BW fan either, but I'm pretty impressed how well he comes off. In trying to quench my RF thirst, I found a used copy of his CD with Robben on Amazon, and I have to say, it's got some smokin tunes. BW strays a bit and tries too many types of tunes, but his blues stuff surprisingly works. Of course, I'm sure he had a top shelf production crew and band to polish it up.
I wonder if Robben knew him prior to this recording or if BW simply said 'Hire me the baddest guitar player available.'

A slight diversion here...

While on the subject of action hero turned blues musician, anyone have or heard any of Steven Segal's stuff? His latest cd (he has 2, I believe), Mojo Priest, seems to have alot of great reviews. While tempted at times to give it a shot, I always defer to waiting till I find it in the bargain or used bin in my local cd store. His first cd seemed to do well too, especially with surprising guest appearances in it...
