Hello!
I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone else has used Sound City amps? Just curious. I had a half stack, but got rid of it years ago. I used it during my rock / metal days, but now that I'm back to my first love-'blues', I've not yet recorded with any amps, but instead have used a Zoom 9002 direct to my computer. I did however buy a new-old-stock Peavey Ranger 212 w/ Blue Marvels that I just installed Sovteks in (never was sold and was part of a liquidated store stock, so it's like new). It came with Rubys which I put in a reworked Peavey Deuce that I just got. I had to build a new cabinet for it, replace the speakers, tubes and a couple of pots, but my initial feeling is other than its exessive weight, it's gonna be a killer blues amp. The Ranger already is, as it's all tube, but the Deuce is a hybrid with solid state pre-amp and tube power amp(4-6l6GC's). I'll be recording with the new amps soon. If interested in hearing some rock / metal tunes with the Sound City rig and some blues with the Zoom, check out my music website:
