Met Tom Brechtlein yesterday...had to ask him if there's any news from "The Blue Line" Very Happy

"Thanks for asking but that ain't gonna happen." Neutral
Tom and Roscoe play together from time to time and will do some gigs together soon again. No more Robben Ford and the Blue Line though. Different paths...

I'm happy I saw them here in Europe about 4 times before they "broke up"

I got to meet Tom once. He had just played a gig with Manhatten Transfer. He does so many different things, that the Blue Line is just one phase he's been through. I mean, the guy played with Chick which has to be one of the most insane gigs outside of Miles.

Anyway, he was very cool and a regular guy. He was hanging out with Myron Dove and I was watching SpangALang (Tony Lindsay/Tom Politzer and crew) when they walked in. Myron introduced me and just said "guitar player". We talked as fellow musicians (like I would be a fellow musician to someone like Tom Embarassed ) about the music that was going on that night and how the gig with Manhatten Transfer went. He was probably relieved to not get questioned about the Blue Line.

Oddly, I had seen him with Robben and Jeff Babbco at some festival in Marin fairly soon before that. It was funny, he and Jeff were coaching the bass player who didn't seem all that familiar with the material and the ways Robben would mix it up. It was like one of those casuals where old friends who haven't played together in awhile get together and enjoy the space of familiar material and knowing the other players.
