A friend who should know better just forwarded to me one of those forward-to-forward-to-forward e-mails with a story that's pretty well debunked on snopes.com and urbanlegends.com, about how if everyone in the country doesn't buy gasoline on May 15, the oil companies will lose a ton of money and drop the price. Yeah, sure. Folks'll just buy more on the 14th or 16th.
But it got me thinking: What if everyone within the sound of our e-mail mailing lists went out and bough a blues CD on May 15? Or downloaded some blues from iTunes? Or went out to a club that has live blues? And didn't buy ANYTHING else. E.g., no Celine Dion CDs, no tickets to see Brittney Spears, no plaid slacks, no lattes, no romance novels. No groceries. No gasoline. Just stuff having to do with BLUES.
Now THAT might actually get someone's attention.
Thank I'll wait another 10 days and then buy Tommy Castro's CD. But I'll WALK to the CD store. And won't eat all day, either. _________________ - BlueRunner

BR, you slay me! Although, I respect your resolve and creative idea. I, too, will make it a point to buy a Blues cd on the 15th, but there's no way I can walk to the nearest store! And, my bodily constitution requires at least a burger. I'll also not buy any petro products that day...
