Well Gang, If you missed it you missed a lot of Brand New Material.
The Red Robben Came Bopin on Stage with a bright red shirt and brought
out the Sun at the Santa Cruz Blues Fest. I tried to make a set list but
since most of the material was new I was a bit stumped. Here are my
notes:

1) A song that seemed to be about workaday life, one verse went like:

(something or other) another day,
coffee tea and I'm on my way.

A fast paced rockin blues song. (NEW)

2) A song about breakin up with a woman, one verse went like:
Do what you want, ----------
You're face when you want to go. (Which may be the title.) (NEW)

3) A fast Jazz/Blues/Rock Instrumental. Probably his instrumental
for this album. Dada dat, dada dat, dow! Was one of the themes.
(NEW)

4) Sorry the way you mistreated me, Blues Cover, (?new material?)

5) Riley B. King, Co-written with Keb Mo, a Smooth Folk Blues.
A notstalgic look at the blues. (NEW)

6) Nobody's fault but mine, (Otis Redding Cover) (NEW)

7) Too Much (NEW)
No notes on this I went into dance mode by now.

8) Peace on My Mind, A song in line with his Elvis Costello cover from
the last album. GOOD SONG!! (NEW)

9) Lovin Cup, Which he did with his latest stylings, Tore it UP!

Wavy Gravy grabbed the mike imediately and started blabbing so we
didn't have a chance to rally Robben out for and encore. Bummer!

It was so delightful hearing Robben with his band again,
I liked the Ford Band but when Robben plays his own material with
his own band it just gets better.

Tommy Castro preceded Ford and ended his set with Cocoa Montoya and
Mike Schermer, wow!

Little Feat Followed Robben and did not disappoint either.
Playing a lot of hits, Dixie Chicken, Juanita, Feel's like Rain, and had
Cocoa come out for Let it Roll. They started the set with Down on the Farm.

Lastly came Etta James, what can I write about her except thanks for
continuing to come out and bless us with you voice. Sound man couldn't
get her mike tuned in so she kept feeding back, she was frustrated by it.
Some jerk got on stage and started caressing her and actually piped
in tada when she was singing that song.
She did her big hit At Last which was sung beautifully, plus many more.

Well Folks, what can I say but, "If you snooze you looze"
