|
|
Someone has been working hard.............three "new" videos have been added to the Video section of Robben's new website: 1. Robben sitting in with Santana; 2. An interview with Ben Sidran at the New Visions Sun Fest 1990; 3. "Help The Poor" with The Blue Line from Sun Fest. I think this is the first time I've ever seen Robben perform Help The Poor with the trio......no keyboards. And, it sounded very, very cool! I thought I'd seen most of the available online video coverage of Robben playing, but I've never seen these videos previously. Enjoy! |

The video of Robben sitting in with Santana was filmed at the Pistoia Blues & Jazz Fest in Italy ala '97 or '98.
How do I know this?
Because, Angus (Carlos' tech at that time) is pretty prominent thru out it, but if you look very, very closely (especially when the camera zooms in) you will see my bald head moving around behind CT's (Chester Thompson) monitor (left of the water bottle), so I know this was when I was working for the Santana camp a year or two before hooking up with Robben in '99.
I remember the night well. it was the first time I saw Robben perform.
Coincidentally, I will be at the Pistoia Fest again in about 4 weeks with Gregg Allman & Friends. I believe John Mayall is on the same bill the night we play. _________________ B C-ing U!

It looks like they're playing some beautifull guitar lines on the video with santana..Too bad the sound quality is pretty poor |

Those are cool videos. I have a lot Robben stuff on video, but none of those.
That's really a great addition to the site. |

I just watched all of them last night. I especially liked "Philly Blues". That is a great track.

It's a great song from Bob Malach's solo album (the searcher), featuring and produced by Robben..I've never seen a video of this song.. Really nice!
Me and my band from school also did our own version of this song |

Thanks for the info. That sounds like one I need to add to the collection.

Now THATS what I'm talkin' about!
And I had no idea there was a 'music video' of He Don't Play Nothing But the Blues. I have Rugged Road and Born Under a Bad Sign but never actually saw them played on TV. Does anyone know where these things were played when they came out and if there are others? _________________ "Somebody's got to make some music around here." - Robben Ford |
