Man, that's really tough, I have favs from all periods, but right now, I'm really digging that first yellowjackets record, I just bought the updated version with 4 unreleased tracks, very very cool.
After that, handfull of blues,
Kurt

What's cool about the unreleased tracks is the raw tone the Robben gets. I like it better then the original tracks. Especially "Flat Time". Do you know what guitar and amp he was using?

Pretty sure it was the yamaha amp, though it could have been a boogie on the last track. I would be fairly sure it was the 335 as well, sounds like a touch of chorus and a bit of slapback, very short, maybe 70 MS or so. I agree with you, I like his tone better on those tracks, more organic, and he stretches out a bit, and takes more space between phrases, much more like the Robben of today.

Cool I love 'em all, even "Schizophonic," but I'm particularly taken with the relatively rare Ford Brothers recordings in which Pat, Robben and Mark all play together. Absolute magic.

All of 'em!!! The next one!!! Actually I love RF's comping on the stuff he did with Jimmy Witherspoon. That's like a master class in rhythm guitar. I love his acoustic work on "Authorized Bootleg". "Talk To Your Daughter" is always a favorite because that's the first time I heard of RF. "Jing Chi 3D" is another favorite. The LC - RF live is great and I'm anxiously waiting for the DVD. I just can't pick one!

Love a lot of them, but the ones I prefer are the Blue Line records, Jing Chi 1 and the Live, the CD with Joe Diorio too. Supernatural is really good too, especially song wise.
But I also dig a lot of bootleg stuff, like the concert he did with MiKe Clark , this one is so funky, that's a lesson in funk comping from Robben.
