I found a short clip of RF performing Lateral Climb at the Antwerp festival. Not much more than a minute long, but still cool.

Wow! That looks like Novak and Cheney. They're taking it deep. And Robben is putting his typical live energy into it. Great stuff.

There's something about "Lateral Climb" that reminds me of "Talk to your Daughter." It also reminds me of Stevie Wonder music, for some reason I can't explain. It's got that powerful, pushing groove that makes you take notice. I think it was a great choice for the opening track.

You know, something else just struck me as I watched that clip again. Not only is it Novak and Cheney, but it's JUST Novak and Cheney - as in a trio. I can't remember the last time I saw just a trio except for when it was Robben, Tom and Roscoe. I wonder if there's anything significant about this?
