Very Happy , yes i did. It seems like it is a endless game.
i still can't afford a "modern" real tube amp, but i do enjoy what i have by now.
One thing i've got being glued to Robben Ford style and tone is how to appreciate Clean tones , it sounds quite paradoxal, but while trying to play
"freedom " it went obvious that the cleanest the sweetest. My strat did well.My amp too , me is an other story.
The other thing is that i realized i better have to play myself once i like my tone, even if i try to emulate mrFord with some of his harmonic devlpment while soloing. I always tried to emulate the guitar players who give me chills, this way before opportunities to have good gear. There is a kind of "attitude" towards the electric guitar i could relate to . I love the way Robben use spacing, silences, the real accurate bends, use of volume pot, dynamics, all these technics i can use for me. Even if i love trying to do note for note covers ( when it come to hendrix i am so psycho rigid, but i don't like Marschall OD).
Anyways i am in love with tube amps.I really dig all that touch sensitive buzz up. Fooling with tones whatever the medium is as far charming as painting with notes , that give a lot of colors. i didn't play guitar since November, we played yesterday , this morning i feel good & quiet. We love music.
Now i love the gear page , sometimes it's very informative, and full of music to listen, but there is 3recurrent kinds of thread i have a real crackin'up to lurk :
How Robben is overrated and his voice so unbluesy.
The DUMBLES & Clones or challengers or ..............
John Mayer ( by the way i discovered him reading so much foolish things in gear page). Poor John Mayer now he 've got 2 or dumbles , they are not glad at him .... Too cissy & pop oriented ........Well nothing better than a john mayer thread to start a daytoo.

Wow, 21 pages in 2 days, and still going. There's no way I'm going to read all that, so, how about a synopsis (although I'm pretty sure I can guess what it's all about, primarily).

Blobby, I seen and heard several of your clips. Keep doing what you're doing... Very Happy

Yes, yes, yes, nothing stirs up controversy on the Gear Page like a Dumble comparison thread (particularly when Tag is involved). I've gotten sucked into a few of these in the past and refuse to do so agian. Among other amps, I have a wonderful Dumble inspired amp along with a rig with a Rodenberg Flexloop (like a Dumbleator) and a TC 2290. I love the way my rig sounds and I'm not going to get pulled into a contest as to which amp sounds the most like somone else's perception of what Robben really sounds like--that sounds like a no-win situation and no one really cares.

... nice to see another Michigander here. Rf doesn't get here too terribly often, does he? Seems like Europe is his preference, although I did catch the show in Royal Oak a few(?) years back. Tag's tone chase on the TGP has been more entertaining than other Dumble threads, I must admit.
Happy New Year to all.

Yes, it's been a while. Robben's last official visit with his band was at the Magic Bag in February of 2004. I actually sponsored a clinic with him the day before the show that was really fun. Since then he came in to play with Steve Miller in the summer of 04 and with John Mayall in 2005 (or was is 06?). In any event, the last few years, I've been able to dovetail some business trips to see him in Cleveland, and New York. When I see him, I usually get a chance to talk to him a bit and he says he will get back to Michigan some time. We've also kicked around the idea of doing another clinic or something when he comes back to town--we'll see for 2008!
