I just saw that this is a show with Joe Bonamassa. Two of my favorite players. I will be catching Joe in Vegas the following night. Too late to change travel plans but If I would of known sooner I would of flown to LA and driven to Vegas. For those that haven't seen Joe are in for a treat.

As a big fan of Joe Bonamassa and Robben Ford, I would really have liked to be at that show.
But it is quite a journey to travel from Denmark, Europe to Las Vegas....

Would really like to hear a recording of that show..

cheers

We will be in Veas for Trower on Friday night. Joe Saturday.

Since Robben is the headliner and doesn't allow taping Wink their problaly won't be anything from that show. Joe is very taper and camera friendly but I'm sure the house rules will be to accomodate Robben.

Maybe Robben will bring Joe up for the encore. Joe played with Robben when he was 15 years old or so at a Leo Fender tribute or anniversary. Joe is a big fan of Robben. He has said it was a humbling experience. I think he could hold his own now.

Nice. Very nice!

You don't know how lucky all of you are who are going to this show. As RoadWarrior posted not long ago after seeing a Joe B. show, the guy has matured into a fine musician and not just a high-powered shredding bluesman (which I'm not knocking because I really love that stuff too).

Each with their own bands will be incredible shows, I'm sure. But if one joins the other at some point, look out!

It's on the first, a Friday night, which I happen to have off of school (sweet!). Do we have a number of how many forum members will be there? I'll be wearing a a brown long sleeve shirt with yellow sleeves that says "Electric Groove" in really funky letters. That pretty recognizable eh? I may be acting a little forward but I used to be pretty active in this forum before I lost my username...I'm tired of being told no when I ask if someone has heard of Robben Ford...then again in general I'm asking other 16 year olds...

Ha ha! Reminds of of a Great Southern/Dickie Betts concert I went to a couple of years ago.

There some under 20-somethings standing in line, holding "Eat A Peach" albums, hoping to get them autographed.

I mentioned that I had seen Robben a few weeks earlier.

One of the kids said, "Robben Ford is pretty good, but he's no Dickie Betts!"

Laughing

What has this world come to...I just figure as time passes the musical tastes of my peers will change. My friends musical interests won't, but my friends will! Unfortunately at this point there's not much of an opportunity to go to a blues jam and meet some people unless I want to lay down $300 for a fake ID to get past the 2 drink minimum rule...

Of course not! Robben is Robben and Dickie is Dickie. Two totally different personalities. Two different guitar styles. But, I can understand where that comment comes from. It's all good!

Musicinmysoul, glad to have you in here. It's refreshing to see persons of your generation appreciating Robben Ford music. It shows your appreciation of what true-Blue music is! PM me with your US mail address, and I'll treat you to cds of the Gregg Allman & Friends show at the Chicago House of Blues with Robben from their 2005 tour (I've only sent out about 150 +/- copies to the forum community!)...

Later,
JZ

Well this is cool, I found the username to my old account. God it's been years since I've used this picture of my Paul...

I suppose I should pick a username though. So, Musicinmysoul or TotallyObsessed?

Enjoy the show Danny. Joe is playing nothing but Pauls latley. Gibson is doing a signature model for him. He is real fan friendly too. Always happy to have a picture taken and will sign. Just wait by the bus.

Yeah, I heard about the signature Paul, it'll be the typically overpriced Gibson product...I just wonder whether it'll have something special to it or not. As far as I know the only thing Joe does to his Pauls is put in some original PAF's, and Gibson sure as hell isn't going to do that Razz I wonder if I could get him to sign the GI-Joe-flesh-toned pickguard that came with my Paul...

How early do you think he'll be there? I'm planning on having my ipod, speakers, a book or 2, snacks, drinks, and lawn chairs out front the Galaxy an hour and a half before the doors open with my friend. And that was before I considered trying to meet Joe, because I wanted to hang out early so I could get good spots in the pit.

Don't know how typical it will be or if it is overpriced but here is Joe's discription of it taken from his message board.

Hey Everybody,
I just wanted to give you a update on what we decided on for the Joe Bonamassa Les Paul. First: its going to be a Gold top based on a early 57 design. It'll have the black back and black pickup surrounds and hardware. They will be aged and look right for the period. They will have a Burstbucker 2 in the front and a Burstbucker 3 for the lead. All the chrome will be aged and it will have Grover tuners. The headstock will be a consistent thickness and match my main Murphy. It will have the nice 1959 profile neck. The ABR-1 will have no retaining wire and 3 nylon saddles just like on mine. I basically did everything to it to make it a great guitar. It'll be light and the dish on the top will be more pronounced than on other historic Gold tops. It will look and sound and most importantly feel right. I wanted to make something that people will want to play forever and always grab for as their first choice. I dont know exactly how much they will be but in the low $3000's I will guess. Kudos to Pat, Rick, Edwin, Tom and Chris and everybody at the custom shop for being so cool and doing this for me. Plus got to give a big shout out to Jim Dunlop for making the Joe Bonamassa custom Jazz 3's. They are basically the same pick only with my name on them. Just got them today.. so cool
Joe Bonamassa

Joe regularly contributes to discussions. jbonamassa.com

They usually get to the venue early afternoon. Robben will be headlining so Joe will probably be hanging around till time for their soundcheck. I've got a Gibson pick guard signed by him from a 2000 Heritage Cherry Les Paul. Keep it right next to my Tele signed by Robben.
