HI Ya'll from beautiful Mt. Pleasant, SC by way of Anchorage Alaska.(Hi GaryLamar! guess who?) I've been diggin on Robben Ford since 1978. The first time I saw him was the first day I attended GIT in Hollywood. What A revelation!!!! My fellow students and I used to go to "the Baked Potato" and Dante's Club any time Robben or Larry Carlton were playing. One night they were at the Baked Potato jamming together. (Wished I had my tape recorder that night.) I did manage to tape Robben and the Yellowjackets about 3 nights total. The man was smokin. I last saw Robben in 2001 on July 4th in Lysle, Illinois. (Did manage to videotape that one from a distance.) I play a Pedulla and 2 Stratocatsers through an Egnater TOL 100 with a 2 12 cabinet. I listen to Robben, Larry, Scott Henderson, Frank Gambale, Todd Rundgren, Beatles, Steely Dan....
I've been checking out this message board for about 6 months now. PRETTY COOL!!. Elizabeth, we may have to duke it out as to whose the biggest Robben fan. By the way, anybody know what my username refers to?

Hi, you lucky one , i 've been introduced to Robben's music in 1984 by a GIT student too, he made me listen the first yellow jacket , the inside story
and some live tapes , 'killing live tapes". By the time i went in GIT , there was no more teaching by Mr FORD, but it was not that a problem, i learned that i had to learn a lot.
So you are Alaskan too, have some good caviar ?
P.S :
I am on the rank too Razz Elizbeth 72, You 78, me 84 who's next.

Hi VSC FREE,

We have a lot in common. I use to go to the Baked Potato all the time in the early 80's. Saw Carlton and Robben there many times! I did not attend GIT but went to Berklee 79 - 82. Discovered Robben after his first release "The Inside Story." That one just killed me...then those first two Yellowjackets LPs....It was all over! A fan for life!

I am into all the same stuff you are! Welcome to the Forum!

I think this is the first time I have ever been invited to, "duke it out." I am truly honored. My first fight! Okay fine, meet me on top of the flagpole...if I am not there, start without me. You will recognize me instantly...I am green, jumping up and down enthusiastically, because I am the number one fan.

Aw jeeeeez...first, I am challenged to a fight...then, I am threatened. What is this world coming to? Okay, anyone who wants the title is welcomed to it...it must be a guy thing...I don't get it. You big bullies!

I'm going back to concentrating on trying to understand Claude Nougaro's lyrics. (I reeeeeeeeeally like him, especially his version of "Blue Rondo a la..." one of my top all-time favorite tunes!) You know you have become truly bizarre when you actually look forward to the talking portions on CDs and the radio... but only those in French.

Next, you will be telling me that you want to look like me and be the green jumping critter that I am...Are you going to have red hair, too??? YOU POSERS! Sheeeeeesh! Oh well...my mother said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

...I almost forgot about the VSC question. Vessel Safety Check? Virginia/ South Carolina? Voracious Serpent Catasrophe? Vociferously Serious Cacaphony? Velvety Soft Comfort? Veteran Stuttering Cattle? Victory Stifling Conundrum? Velveeta String Cheese? Come on, someone, help me out here...Captain, cover me while I make a run for it...

OK Elizabeth...I can handle being Robben's second biggest fan. You truly deserve the honor of Numero Uno. I was most impressed with the guesses on the meaning of "VSC FREE". Alas.... none of them were in the ballpark. I'm going to give you a little clue.....think HEALTH, WELLNESS, and ADJUSTMENT.

Virtually sadistic complex free? Vitally sensitive chiropractor? Does this count on our final grade? Does it HAVE to be in cursive?. Hey, maybe it is Virtually Stress and Complex Free. If it is, I want your secret, PLEASE! Smile Okay, Captain, Chekov, Bones: I've given it all I've got...she can't take any more...I think she's gonna blow!
