Hi, All,
I am writing to invite you to join Robben's mailing list on his web site, as he was just informed that most of his former mailing list was lost in an unfortunate computer melt-down. Even if you think you are on the list, please take a moment to visit his site http://www.robbenford.com and join the list again. He would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Anne

From Robben's manager, Dal:
"David,
Can you please post on the board that we think we have solved the problem with the sign up and would like all to re-register for info.
There has been a problem for many to sign up and I want to make sure we have all for future use.

If I may, and this is to help in my small way. This is very, very important, so please pass this on if you can in order to help it never happen again.
Get the backup religion!
Rule of thumb with hard drive failures:
It's not if but when as they will all fail at some point. That's just the facts about hard drives.
Whenever using any computer expect failure at all times. Always have TWO hard drives with all the data and if possible, a UPS in case of a storm that can zap your PC and it's magnetic data. Hard drives are historically really, really cheap these days. I see 500GB USB /Firewire external and internal SATA hard drive for less than $100 all the time now.
Rule of thumb on value for H/D's:
Do the math formula the amount of the drives GB's divided by the cost and don't settle for less than 5gb or more per dollar and that's a real good deal. Just a couple of years ago, 1 or 2 GB's per dollar was a great ratio. Get two and always make two copies of everything you want to keep.
NO EXCUSES!
If you're dealing with PC's, you need to have backups at all times or it'll happen again. It's all pretty easy for PC newbies to do also, just basically get in the routine of always making two copies. NO sweat, it takes seconds on today's fast PC's.
Personally, I just clone my boot drive with a real good cloning software called True Image, and if the PC crashes you can just boot from the other drive and not miss a beat. But then you have to go get another drive to replace the one that failed.
Trust me, I've lost enough data over the years to have learned my lesson about the "Backup Religion" the real hard way. The peace of mind of knowing you're data's safe is a very good thing too!
BTW, are you sure the hard drive failed, sometimes w/PC's a lot of things can look like that's the case but actually be something else as to why the PC isn't working. Let me know if I can help. What exactly is the PC doing?
Also, don't throw the hard drive w/mailing list away as sometimes you actually can recover the data(mailing list) from it, but that is a very. very expensive proposition and you have to be very careful of who you take it to. Check the hard drive company's website for data recovery if needed. It'll be a decision about how much that data is worth to you, if they can get it back.
