I have to say that I'm so proud of my daughter, Julie (age 27), who ran the Boston Marathon today (bib # 22674). It's the 2nd year in a row that she's run. She is a member of Tedy's Team (Tedy Bruschi of the New England Patriots, and stroke survivor), part of the American Stroke Association, and she dedicated her run to her grandmother (my mom) who suffered and survived a stroke last year at the age of 93! And, with so much that's happened in her life recently- Julie got engaged and started working on wedding plans; been through her first purchase on a house which she'll move into in about a month (yeah! Julie and her beau, Shawn [a great guy!] have been living in my home for 5 years!); and, fundraising ($3000+ raised) plus all her running to train whenever she could (and which she found time for!). She did it- she finished again! And, the best thing is that she beat her goal of besting last years' time by 20 minutes!

A couple things I heard Julie say afterwards at the reception room where all the Tedy's Team runners gathered: " ...this (Boston Marathon) is the absolute most crazy, most ridiculous run..." About a half hour later, very stiff-legged and limping, she says, "...save that (Tedy's Team) poster. I want to use it for next year!"

I can hardly wait...

JZ - you have every right to be proud! Sounds like you raised an outstanding daughter and citizen. Well done.

Millibobs, their room downstairs will become my "Man Cave". Good-sized bar (not yet stocked), fireplace, and plenty of room for all my guitar gear (7 or 8 guitars I think, my prized DrZ Maz-18 2x12 and a couple smaller amps, and a bunch of pedals, cds, dvds, guitar books and mags, and other crap. My next major purchase probably in about 3 years will be a full-sized drum set with at least 2 dozen cymbals. Very Happy

JZ: Checked Julie out in the official results. Great run. (And having done a few of these myself, I know what it takes to prepare for a race like this -- and how it feels when you cross that finish line.)
