Hehe, gotta practise quite a bit for that then
I haven't listened to your take yet to keep ideas fresh...but out of curiosity I'll check it tonight. |

I use alot of Pat Martino's Linear expressions stuff (way too much - slowly breaking the habit of sixteenth note wanking !)
play in G maj country pent w/some mixolydian or mixo #4 stuff
over the next 2 chords:
G min blues pent or
Bb mix/ mix #4
mix #4 is a mixolydian w/the #4 REPLACING the sus4
it is really the 4th mode of a melodic minor
So G mix#4 over the first chord is really D mel min
Bb mix #4 is really F mel min over the next 2 chords
You could also think of it as 2 mel min a minor third apart
4 beats of D mel min then 4 bets of F mel min
You could also look at those last 2 of the 3 chords as a IImi-V7 (Fmi7-Bb7)
or you could look at the first chord, instead of being 4 beats of G7, make it 2 beats of Dmi7 and 2 beats of G7;
And then 2 beats of Fmi7 2 beats of Bb7
So you would have this:
||: Dmi7 G7 | Fmi7 Bb7 |
it is basically II-V's in minor 3rds _________________ http://www.myspace.com/geoffreyjacob |
