I saw that Concord has released Jimmy Witherspoon & Robben Ford Live at Monterey 1972 with liner notes from Robben. I love the music from this era as much as I love Robben's recent releases. _________________ Travelling by train of thought |

You and me both, RW. It's a textbook of how to accompany a singer and I always marvel at how Robben's playing was so smooth at such a young age.

Picked it up.
Great stuff. I like how on just about every tune Jimmy W. yells out "blues in A#"! |

The fast songs were in B flat and the slow songs were in A fLat. I love the part when Spoon yells out "Robben Ford!" ten times and when Spoon yells out "Pull that curtain back, I'll cut it I got my knife!!" _________________ www.myspace.com/phillbensonblues |

I just downloaded it from iTunes about 60 seconds after reading this thread. It even comes with a digital booklet. _________________ "Somebody's got to make some music around here." - Robben Ford |

I just got it tonight off of Itunes, too. What a great album! The only thing I hate about getting it off of Itunes is that I can't burn a copy to CD for my truck. It doesn't read AAC format. I'll just have to get a new deck with an aux in for my ipod. It's worth it to be able to listen to that album.

Say what, Frank? If your truck has a standard CD player you should be able to burn CDs that it can play, no problem. _________________ "Somebody's got to make some music around here." - Robben Ford |

My truck (an 02 Chevy) has the factory player. All tunes downloaded from the itunes store are in AAC format. They are protected and cannot be converted to MP3 or WAV. I can convert tunes to mp3 with itunes and play them in my truck, but AAC files don't play and can't be converted. I was thinking of a new unit with an aux in for my satellite and ipod, but was hoping to wait for my next vehicle. I have a transmitter for the ipod but it doesn't always work well. A direct connection like I have in my MGB is better.

If you burn a CD from iTunes it gets burned as a standard CD (AIFF) so it should play in any player made. iTunes limits how many times you can burn stuff (so people don't produce and sell 1,000 copies) but you should be able to burn it, pop it in the truck and you're good to go.
You can choose to burn tunes to a CD in mp3 format, but that's an option you have to specifically select. Out of the box, iTunes just makes regular CDs.
I didn't get much sleep last night so maybe I'm missing something. Forgive me it that's the case.

Right you can burn CDs from iTunes and they will play in my truck. BUT, songs downloaded from the iTunes stores are in a protected AAC format and remain in that format and cannot be converted to any other format.

True that songs downloaded from iTunes are in AAC protected format, but you can absolutely burn CDs from those. The protection just limits the number of CDs you can burn from them to limit piracy. Trust me, I've done it many, many times.
In fact, this is how many people get rid of the AAC protection. You burn a song(s) downloaded from iTunes to CD, it gets converted to AIFF, then if you import it back in FROM that freshly burned CD, presto-chango, you've got a protection free song(s).

I've done it, too. In fact I just burned a Ronnie Earl CD from an album I downloaded off of the iTunes store. It plays in my computer, but not in my truck. I have no idea why not, but every CD that I burn that bought from the iTunes store will not play in my truck. I'll try another one to be sure.
