Hi Daved
I'm new to this board, just filled out my registration. Just a few days before I saw a live gig by Robben on TV from the last tour somewhere in Germany. What I'm courios about: On some shots of this video you could see Robben's Dumble Cabinet from the back. Looked like one EV 12 L speaker and one with a red back, maybe a Tone Tubby? Is that true?
thanks for an answer. _________________ "The most important thing is that you make sure you follow the music, which is a musician’s way of saying follow your heart. (Robben Ford)

Welcome aboard, FTM
Speaker replacements happened during the period last year while the cab was out of my hands. By the time I returned to them I, too, noticed the changes.
What you saw was a red Eminence Tonker and a test sample Eminence (from a couple years back when Eminence and I were trying to develop a new speaker for Robben) that had been rummaged out of storage by whomever actually replaced the speaker in my absence.
As for EV's, Robben thinks they are some of the finest sounding speakers around, but do not work for him as he says they are too efficient, producing too clean a sound for his purposes.
However, both the tan and the black cabs have just been loaded with brand new Celestion G12-65's.
I will be writing more about this, hopefully sometime in the next few days, in another thread.
Watch for it. _________________ B C-ing U!

Wow Daved, you must have JUST loaded those cabients with new G12-65s. I got the oportunity to hang out with Robben after the show in Orlando last Saturday and, among other things, we were talking about speakers. When I asked him, he had said he had not yet tried the new Heritage 12-65s. I told him just got a pair and I really liked them. He said he was going to be trying out some new speakers when he returned to California.
I'm curious to learn how Robben likes these Heritage re-issues relative to his originals.
