Dear All,

A friend of mine asked my to write down the lyrics of Robben's Peace on my mind.

Unfortunately there are few words I can't understand clearly. Moreover, I may have misunderstood some sentence.

Can anyone help me, please?
Any help would really be appreciated!
Thank you very much in advance!
GM

Here is the text (missing words as XXXXX):

PEACE ON MY MIND

Someone to rule the world, and wouldn’t be me
The planet is so wounded, who really XXXXXXXXXX
It’s hard to take care of things you can’t hold in your hand
Who can make sense of problems in a distant land?
The culture of war is blind men leading blind
Every day more and more
I’ve got peace on my mind

They balance on razors, far from home and family
A nation on ice for the chill of humanity
This senseless crime can bring your world tumbling down
When fire meets fire we burn away the common ground
What can make so many people blind?
Every day more and more
I’ve got peace on my mind

Peace on my mind
A fun dreaming
Making stream Reality
Peace on my mind
A cool light streaming
Let it be

They move in darkness pretending they see the light
They XXXXXXXXX to conquer claiming what’s wrong is right
They see XXXXXXXX clearly XXXXXX in the light of day
Who can find answers when questions are just swapped away?
What has made so many people blind?
Every day more and more
I’ve got peace on my mind

Peace on my mind
A fun dreaming
Making stream Reality
Peace on my mind
A cool light streaming
Let it be

This is where I got them from. Let me know if you still have trouble, but this is pretty clear.

Some of that was right on and some was so off it was amusing... no offense meant...

I've used bold below to indicate my edits to your version:

Someone to rule the world, it wouldn’t be me
The planet's so wounded, who will its savior be?
It’s hard to take care of things you can hold in your hand
Who can make sense of problems in a distant land?
The call to war is blind man leading blind
Every day more and more
I’ve got peace on my mind

They balance on razors, far from home and family
A nation on ice for the chilling of humanity
A senseless crime can bring your world tumbling down
When fire meets fire we burn away the common ground
War can make so many people blind
Every day more and more
I’ve got peace on my mind

(chorus)
Peace on my mind
If I'm dreaming
Make this dream reality
Peace on my mind
A cool light streaming
Let it be

They move in darkness pretending they see the light
Dividing to conquer, claiming what’s wrong is right
To see a thing clearly, you put it in the light of day
Who can find answers when questions are just swept away?
War has made so many people blind
Every day more and more
I’ve got peace on my mind

(chorus)

I'm pretty sure that I heard something about "quiche" and "shrooms" in the lyrics. I may be wrong, but MilliBombs, Blobby, and RoadWarrior will most likely clarify...

HTH (Hope This Helps).

BTW, it's in A minor, like everything in my guitar-playing existence. Praise Buddha. One note; one sound. Focus, Daniel-san. Peace.

No offense taken. My English is getting every day more rusty and I've written the text almost all in one, it's a miracle I haven't written down some exotic recipe instead.

Thank you very much for the help.

I got part of it as:
The Violence All Rages, Far From Home And Family
A Nation On Ice, For The Chill In Our Humanity
(Went back and listened, and it does sound like "They Balance on Razors")
When I initially wrote them out it seemed like my line made sense in the context of war, but who knows what Robben's thoughts were when he wrote it. Beautiful song, great chords, i'm going to do this one!

Misheard lyrics is always a real fun topic. They can be slightly misheard, or totally misheard. When I first heard "Oh Darling" by Lennon/McCartney, I was convinced Paul was singing "you know I need a blow job" instead of "you know I nearly broke down." Robben himself related when someone thought the first line in his song "My Everything" (from Blue Moon), "I love you endlessly..." instead began "I love you Aunt Leslie..." Of course there's always Hendrix and "Purple Haze" -- "'scuse me while I kiss this guy."

Check out http://www.kissthisguy.com/ for a whole pile of such stuff.

Finally, have you seen this subtitled Joe Cocker video on YouTube? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4_MsrsKzMM

Just a quick note:

They're balanced on razors, far from home and family
A nation on ice put a chill in our humanity
