Robben didn't bring the Dumble; he used two Fender Twin Reverbs; could they've been rentals? Maybe the band was traveling light?
Despite all this, his sound was there 100%... I guess it's all in the hands!
BTW, was that the Zen drive he was using? It sounded VERY Dumble-esque!
Just for the record: Travis Carlton made a really beautiful solo that evening... he's really getting great as a player.
If it was you the tech that evening there, I've tried to talk to you but you seemed to be very taken of packing up the gear... but I'm not holding it against you!

Well... the Antiquities don't come with four-conductor cables, and Robben makes intensive use of the coil splitting, so I don't know... the tone was a bit bright, so I'm guessing AlNiCo 5... Antiqities are degaussed AlNiCo 2, so bright is the last thing you would think of... Antiquities are NOT potted, and Robben's guitar was NOT microphonic at all, didn't use feedback at all... if he got the Antiquities, he certainly has changed'em since, even though the covers look a bit reliced, like the Antiquities! I'm guessing here, of course.
In the Sakashta site says that the Nou Paul comes standard with handwound p'ups by Jim Rolph... and with a coil tap as well, so... my guess is that he got the guitar stock. And what a beauty that guitar is!

Hope I'm not out of line disclosing confidential information. The pickups in that guitar are from J.M. Rolph. Jim is a really nice guy and does fantastic work. He just made me a set of PAFs for my 62 ES 355. The sound FANTASTIC!!

Yes, Pepe, that was me. Sorry, if I was caught up in packing the gear and was too busy to talk... it often gets that way, especially on a tour of this type. I DO try to spend a moment with enquiring fans when possible, but I often just don't have the time. Perhaps next time thru.
I honestly don't know what p/u's are in the Sakashta at the moment as I was away from it for some time and don't know what work was done on it while I was gone. I'll try to remember to ask Robben about it when I work with him again in a couple of months.
Yes, we were travelling light this time around and that was the Zen, thru a recently purchased RV-3 into 2 rental Twin Reverbs, loaded with brand new Celestion G12-65's. (See my recent post on the state of Robben and Celestion's relationship these days) _________________ B C-ing U!

Ok, fair enough. I'll be asking again in a couple of months, too.
My guess is that the p'ups are the stock Jim Rolph ones, so I'd like to know the specs. That guitar produces a very particular tone and a sense of tightness that Robben didn't get with any of the others I've seen him playing. The one that came a bit closer but not quite was the Baker.

Dang, his selection of gear has become so basic that we gear hos can't talk 'bout him no more. And judging by what I've heard that evening, I can't conclude but the only source where he gets his tone is his fingers! Hey Robben! You're no fun no mo'!

Yes, you just need to place a custom order to the Custom Shop through the italian importer. Done that once, never again; it was a friggin' living nightmare that I couldn't wake up from lasting exactly 189 days.
