Hey congratulations , America : land of the free , home of the brave.
Something not to be laughed at anymore i hope .

Disclaimer : this is not intended to start a political thread (too late).

I just feel happy ... go figure ??

Jimi Hendrix would have been really satisfied.

Even though Obama was not my man (neither was McCain), I'll try to be my patriotic best and support him. I hope his change rhetoric is truly realized.

OK, I will bite. I try and avoid politics on forums like this because it is too much like work. Historic campaign and outcome, regardless of your affiliation.

Record turnout, yes, but more importantly, record percentage of registered voters turned out to do their civic duty - this is what is really important since American's typically have a low percentage turnout, even in national elections. (The percentage for local elections is embarrassingly low considering this is where the day to day decisions that impact our lives are made).

And thank you, JZ, for offering support even if Obama was not your choice - this is what we all need at this time after so much negativity in the campaign. Let's get on with the business of making thing better! And making music cuz making music always make things better!

My vote has not been counted yet Embarassed

I'm happy we have a new President, but I'm beginning to feel like I'm living in a Peanuts comic strip... Once again, the elections were screwed up by machines that did not function properly. The supervisor of elections (who is running for re-election) decided to wait until Tuesday night to move Early Voting data from the equipment and it failed. Sixty percent of ballots that were submitted during the Early Voting period in Hillsborough County have not been counted yet. The media is calling for a Justice Dept. investigation. As a citizen, I want to know that my vote was counted Sad

Hey, JZ,

With the GOP struggling to re-invent itself (or not?), maybe this is a chance for the Libertarian party to start making some inroads?

Along this line, I found this amusing quote from a younger (than us) GOP'er:

"Conservative to me means keeping the government out of peoples lives as much as possible. That includes staying out of marriage, abortion, and other social issues. Note to the older generations: none of us younger generation give a fawk if two dudes want to live together. Now two chicks living together should be encouraged... "

Emphasis mine!

Laughing

That's funny because the american election was a great deal abroad.
And still is by the way.

I wouldn't have missed voting- voting out every Democrat and Republican incumbant. And, writing in Mickey Mouse for every candidate running unopposed. In other words- I wanted a clean slate- new blood. But, my plan didn't work (everyone I voted for lost!). As far as I'm concerned, Obama being a Democrat is old blood. But, like I said earlier, he is the next man, so it is what it is, our leader. Buddha bless America!

JohnnyZ, Libertarian for life, freedom, and happiness. Peace.

Road - hope everything works out in FL. The fact the the US cannot even guarantee our own elections is absurd. With all the technology at our disposal we still have problems, and people trying to mess things up and keep other people from voting and being heard. It is criminal and should be addressed as such. There is just no excuse for the condition and vulnerability of our election infrastructure. Sorry for the vent but we have had 8 years (or 50 depending on your perspective) to fix our voting system and voting issues and it is still not done.

They're finally done counting ! What an embarrassment Embarassed

We have the 8th largest school district in the U.S. (200,000 students) and the local government can't even run a proper election. Thanks for your concern, Telefunk. By the time the Superbowl fans get here, the voting mess will be long forgotten.
