The title and then the article cracked me up as I immediately thought of this forum. No need to explain myself any further as I'm sure everyone will figure it out. Enjoy! Laughing

New ordinance prohibits 'acts that alarm or seriously annoy another person'

If you're annoying, stay out of Brighton, Mich.

Lawmakers in that city voted last week to adopt a new anti-harassment ordinance that, among other things, makes it "unlawful for a person to engage in a course of conduct or repeatedly commit acts that alarm or seriously annoy another person and that serve no legitimate purpose."

The Livingston Community News says this drew criticism from some who say the city overstepped its bounds with a vague prohibition that has the potential to infringe on free-speech rights. "The ordinance gives police the unbridled discretion to arrest a person for engaging in a constitutionally protected activity," Michael Steinberg of the ACLU tells the paper.

If you were in charge of enforcing this ordinance, what annoying behaviors would you prohibit?

There's a way to overcome this in court by raising the doctrine of "standing"

...I live in a small community adjacent to Brighton. Brighton itself is an "annoyance" Everyone over there must be confused with all the "round-abouts" that were recently built. All that spinning around while driving through there made everyone dizzy.
