Cool Please. No more. I have a mortgage to pay.

Seriously -- a beautiful guitar. Hope it goes to a nice guitar-playing home.

Beautiful guitar. Wish I could afford it.

Have to say, though, it made me a bit sad to read this part:

"This guitar has seen minimal use as it was noted to be a collectible and thus was immediately left in showroom condition for resale purposes."

I hope the next owner plays the crap out of it.

I'd sure play it if I could afford to bid right now!

If you have not done so (and if you are a member) you should try posting it on the Gear Page. I sold my B1C in one day!! However, I priced it to move at $2,700.

Those were reviews of Roman's Steinberger copies from 2000, a few years before Gene Baker sold him the Baker naming rights. I'm not sure when Roman started building his Baker copies, maybe 1.5-2 years ago?

I haven't read any reviews about the Roman Baker copies, but I'd guess not much has changed in the overall product quality and customer service.

That review by Stevie, I found pretty sad, but humorous at the same time. The misspellings, terrible grammar, and the many boisterous uses of the f-word made for entertaining reading. And, now that I think of it, it reminds me of our beloved Blobby! Was that really you, Blobby?! Laughing Twisted Evil Wink

Respecting "Question"s request not to mention Ed Roman any further in his Baker Robben Ford thread, I thought I'd continue the discussion of this fine person here... Laughing Twisted Evil

When I saw this link http://www.edroman.com/guitars/baker/romanbaker.htm in that thread, I went to it out of curiosity and a few things struck me.

- Over 10,000 Roman Bakers have been sold. If true, what's the attraction? Yes, they're half the price but $1,200-1,500 is still a good chunk of change that could buy many other very decent guitars with cash left in pocket.
- Ed Roman's comments about the differences between the original Baker's and his are a bit underhanded and arrogant.
- And, using customer testimonals that cheap-shotted the original Baker- very classless.

Any links to Roman-Baker reviews?

Nice lateral thread move there JZ!

I would agree that Mr. Roman's comments on that page are, well, let's just say I remain somewhat unpersuaded by most of his arguments. Cool

As for 10,000 copies sold, I guess anything is possible. But someone once said something like "Don't believe everything you read..."

I had a few minutes so I searched Harmony Central. Of the 11 reviews I read, 3 or 4 really liked their ER Bakers while the rest absolutely hated them saying essentially that they were cheap (cheap crap, not cheap inexpensive) and that customer service was poor and sleazy.

What I could never understand in reviews is why people insist on writing what they would do if their <whatever> was stolen, and it's usually found in positive reviews and it's "buy another one!" But, this was great coming from a dissatisfied ER Baker owner: "If stolen as long as it was insured I'd consider it a successful theft." Way too funny! Laughing

Classic.

Just for comparison, H-C reviews on the Baker RF--10s across the board:

http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Baker/RF/10/1

Baker B1s--9.5s or above:

http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Baker/B1/10/1

And so on.

Thank goodness Roman has "fixed" all the issues with the original Bakers!

Thanks FTT! However, I'd prefer to think of it more as a "lateral thread climb"...

Roman doesn't make the Bakers, they are manufactured in Korea.
