Known for his high powered blues/ rock guitar playing, five time Grammy nominee Robben Ford together with drummer Toss Panos have developed a more intimate duet performance to be presented at a few select venues this year. More trimmed-down than Robben’s usual trio shows, this presentation will feature percussion and guitar (both acoustic and electric) as well as Robben’s vocals. This song-based program includes their trademark improvisations which explore a variety of styles. Special guest Russell Ferrante (The Yellowjackets) will join on piano.
Opening act Anne Kerry Ford (with pianist Michele Brourman) sets a high standard of performance with excerpts from her new show "Gems of the Great Songwriters" (which sold out at Theater 150 in April). A Broadway veteran and Juilliard graduate, Anne has performed concerts across the country. Her three solo CDs include Weill , the music of Kurt Weill, recorded at Cologne’s Philharmonic Hall with the WDR Big Band, which earned a “top ten pick” from USA Today.
