Do you have questions about setup, cleaning, and maintenence of your ax?
Would you like to spend a couple hours with a professional tech on a more personal level getting your questions answered and a close up look at how I approach taking care of the "stars" guitars?
D'Addario has asked me to hold a clinic at Northridge Music Center in Sacramento on Saturday, April 18th at 2 p.m.
For those in the neigborhood, I'd love to see you there.
Contact Northridge for details. _________________ B C-ing U!

Michael,
This maintenence clinic is kind of a new thing, recently thought up and put together by the former factory artist rep from Gallen-Kruger, the folks at Northridge, and backed by the people at D'Addario... long overdue in my humble opinion.
This will be a first for me, so I will be playing it a bit by ear, observing response and feedback as we go, to learn what information the attendees find most informative and what subjects they most want to know about.
There are things that seem so obvious to me that it surprises me when players, and especially other techs, don't know about or understand them and I will be glad to go over, answer, and demonstrate some of these things as I have learned or figured them out from my own experience... you might even call it "The Art & Approach To Zen Instrument Care & Nurturing"...
The format that Northridge would like, as presented to me, is 2 or 3 hours of time, the first portion mainly vocal/visual presentation, followed by some time on a more personal basis with the folks in attendance demonstarting and answering questions.
Northridge's in-house luthier/repairman will also be there to present his views as a bench repairman. There is a time, place, and need each for both the bench tech and the road tech.
I, along with Northridge's repairman, will help clear up the 'when & when nots', the 'what can & cannots', and the 'what should & should nots' to attempt in general guitar use, maintenence and repair.
I plan to present my ideas, techniques, and experiences as a road-tech, going over the general maintenence, issues, minor repair & adjustments that I, and the everyday musician, can and should be aware of when taking care of their own gear as they use it.

I'm not sure what you mean.
If you're talking about recording media... non flash cameras, audio recorders, and pen & paper are OK with me.... as for video recording, I am still personally conflicted about that, but think that I'd prefer not, at least not this time around.
As for what Northridge might have in mind and will allow, you'd best check with them... it's their party...
I'm just the clown who'll blow up balloons to keep you entertained...
If you're talking about your own tools and/or axe... anything you'd like to bring is fine with me. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have about your special baby, if I can. _________________ B C-ing U!

Thanks Daved ... great response. Jordan and I look forward to seeing you there. My response was to add a bit of humor ... everytime we are invited to a party, I ask "what can I bring?" Tomorrow night it's ...
A red potato salad - mixed with a little celery, red onion, parsley, boiled egg, large spoonful of brown mustard, mayo, good squeeze of lemon, and a substantial spill of cayan pepper.

Hello Daved:
Jordan and I will be at the clinic. We were at the Independent Thursday to see Robben. My son was in the front row ... and Robben showed him some love asking him if he was enjoying the show. Jordan's been actively studying the guitar and is tearing into the Mickey Baker book. Finally he's 21 and can get the oppotunity to see first hand the best of the best. Thanks for all you do.

Daved, I think a DVD would be a great idea. I know you don't want to do it right away, but if you could fit it into your schedule sometime in the future I would love to have one. I think it would be great to have a DVD with tips for setting up and maintaining my gear done by somebody that's "been there, done that". Put me down for one!

Daved, generously spent well over 3 hours going over the tricks of the trade. It should be a DVD ... all useful information and certainly field tested. Daved thanks for sharing the many stories - very informative and worthwhile. We were lucky to live nearby.

I did see a few pictures, no video ... Daved literally spoke from the genuine heart, answered any questions, was extremely patient with everyone treating them as though they might be stepping out on stage, just good stuff. He's generous of his time and talent. And I'm convinced he loves what he does.
He took my son's 1983 Tele and gave it the once over. My son's out looking for his little care kit incorporating the secrets Daved revealed including the need for a little Chapstick once in a while.
