Hi Daved,
Are you going to be with Robben at the Irvine Blues Festival on June 28th?

This show is advertised as the Ford Blues Band w/Robben Ford.
I hope this implies there is a FBB tour. I've checked the Bluerockit site and emailed Patrick for dates or info, but nothing yet.
Nothing on Robben's site or Volker's.
Does anyone have any info on a tour this summer?
ps. I did see a gig in Ukiah in Sept. on Volker's site. I would assume the other Fords would be attending.
Thanks for any info! |

Anybody know any details about the schedule tomorrow? I was going to call and ask but I procrastinated too long and today the office is closed. _________________ "Somebody's got to make some music around here." - Robben Ford |

Jim,
Sorry, but no, I won't.
Much as I'd like to, I'll be busy running around the Valley with a cargo van picking up band gear and starting to drive it north for the shows in Roseburg and Portland, Oregon this week.
Then the following week, once I return Robben's band gear, I'll be starting the Gregg Allman & Friends west coast tour leg down in San Diego.
Enjoy yourself! _________________ B C-ing U!

Too bad you couldn't be there. I'll see you next time you're in town.
The word of the day at the festival was *HOT*. Yes, some hot music, but I'm talking about a blistering hot day at the lake. No shade to speak of made for a tough day in the heat, especially for my kids.
But, the important thing was the music. They had some great acts that the crowd really enjoyed.
The last act, of course, was the Ford Brothers Band. They sounded great and had the crowd on their feet. Chris Cain was a joy to see live - this was my first time seeing him in person. It's not possible to watch Chris play and not smile yourself. I loved watching him.
Robben did a lot of staying back in the wings and letting Chris steal the show. Robben sounded great when he played, but a lot of the time he was hiding in the back. Of course, he had the usual people at the foot of the stage with the cameras that were bothering him. That's becoming such a regular thing that it's really starting to get on my nerves. Robben seems so distracted by it and like he's really not enjoying himself. He turns his back to the crowd all the time and just doesn't seem like he's having as much fun as he used to. It's a shame really not see him just not happy and not having a good time.
Anyway, I stood back away from the stage and took s few pictures so I didn't bother him or the others. Here's a link - hope you enjoy.

BTW, I'm seriously digging the fedora and now I want one.

Unfortunately I wasn't in town to get to see this, but I do have one thing to say. Fedoras and blues/jazz musicians will always be a fantastic combination. _________________ "Music is the only thing that you can share with a million million people and you don't lose, you gain. Glad you cleared that up. I've been telling people for years about how much I enjoy smoking fedoras... _________________ Soul on Eleven |
