Hey y'all. I got a wild hair and bought an Esprit Standard since I can't afford Kirk's tricked out RF Model. Beautiful guitar by the way Kirk.
Anyway I don't have it yet & hope it doesn't suck. I've sorta always wanted one of these. I think it's an '84 from the serial number & read up on them from searching various threads here.
If I like it I'll probably lose the pickups but ya never know.
Anyway...to be continued and thanks for the Esprit tips!

Nice one Andy. More killer tunes coming from you with that one I guess
Usually the first thing to do with those models is indeed to change the pups, a bit of a pain as they are dot not fit standard humbucker dimensions if I remember correctly (at least for the screws). |

Hey thanks Pierre. My friend has a Flame, he likes those pickups but they're butt ugly.
I planned on sticking in some chrome covered Duncans or something. I suppose the standard thing would be JB/'59 but I dunno. I'll probably have a push/push or push/pull splitter put in also.
Do you have an Esprit? |

My bro in law has one. He did switch the pickups, he put some WCR Godwoods in it, it sounds quite good now. |

Fender Esprit & Flame owners unite...questions.
Okay it showed up today. Dang nice, think I like it alot. I've been A/Bing it was my Les Paul...it can hang in a different way but it's in there. Stays in tune well. Anybody have an X-ray of one of these things...where are the chambers? The pickups are a little darker than I thought they would be...which is okay with me. 8lbs.9oz.
So the Schaller stuff...those of you that replaced the bridge & pickups, like the results better. More happy?
The Schallers surprised me some, sound pretty good but I planned on replacing them from the beginnning.

You can get an idea of where the chambers are by tapping the body with you knuckle. |

Congrats on the new guitar!!
I believe the chambers are the electonic cavity on one side and the same on the other. I curious on the tonal change which replacement of bridge and tailpiece like robben did.(I think)
Looking forward to hearing some clips!!!!! and again congrats!!! |

Hi Andy,
cool guitar!
What's the neck like (thin, wide, just right)? Do you like it?
I once tried a RF model and it had one of the nicest neck profiles (slightly big, but comfortable). I wonder if the Esprit is the same.
thanks

Hey Marin,
Thanks guy. I do like it alot. It still needs to be set up just a hair, I could deal with a little less relief. The neck's just right. I wouldn't mind it a little wider but it feels good...comfortable. |
