August is sure shaping up to be a great month for aficionados of great guitar music... in addition to Robben's Soul on Ten live release on August 11, I've just learned this morning that the great Wayne Krantz has a new CD coming out on August 16...

The link I provided above the Abstract Logix has a halfway decent biographical summary.

From his press kit bio off his own site:

Wayne Krantz, guitarist
Ex / sideman with Steely Dan, Michael Brecker, Donald Fagen, Chris Potter and many others, Wayne Krantz has made seven acclaimed albums under his own name since 1991; three on the Enja label ("Signals", "Long to Be Loose" and "2 Drink Minimum"), one on the Alchemy label ("Separate Cages") and, most recently, the self-produced CDs "Greenwich Mean", "Your Basic Live" and "Your Basic Live '06".

Wayne's bands feature some of the best players on Earth: Keith Carlock, Tim Lefebvre, Anthony Jackson, Cliff Almond, James Genus and Paul Socolow. Incendiary gigs in the US, Europe, Canada and Japan inspire his ever-growing fan base to support the projects Wayne produces through his website, www.waynekrantz.com : CDs, downloads of all his live shows and a method book he has written called "An Improviser's OS".

Wayne Krantz is currently at work on a new project to present in 2009.

RECENT PROJECTS:
"Your Basic Live '06", w/ Keith Carlock, Tim Lefebvre, Anthony Jackson, Cliff Almond, James Genus and Paul Socolow
"An Improviser's OS"

RECENT WORK:
Australian tour with Keith Carlock, Tal Wilkenfeld
Donald Fagen, US tour and Grammy winning album, "Morph The Cat"
Chris Potter, "Underground" album and European tours
Tal Wilkenfeld album, "Transformation"
Fahir Atakoglu album and tour, "Istanbul In Blue"

PRESS QUOTES:
"The stinging, percussive guitarist played swoon-worthy solos..." - The New York Times
"Boiling with guitar virtuosity." - The Guardian
"Astounding sense of phrasing, note choice and dramatic tension, with the integrity to stand the test of time." - Guitar Player
"Hold on to your hat." - Downbeat

I don't think that's the Wayne Krantz link you wanted to post...

But, I did enjoy several of the vids like, actually, all of them! Laughing

No comprende.... when I click that link I get my YouTube playlist of Wayne Krantz stuff...

Ooops, my apologies... I was logged when I copied that URL. Can't seem to figure out how to get my playlists to appear to the general public... have to run now, will try to fix this when I get a chance...

25 years ago when the Mike stern frenzy started along with the exposure
from Miles Davis , like the true nerdie, geek, snob, guitar player i was, am
i found a CD named leni Stern , wow ................................
I liked it very much plus the fact there was another guitar .
His name was Wayne Krantz and i never forgot it . In 1990 i met a true fan
of him , he made me listen some original works , and Damn i love it .
Just my 20 dollars................
