There's been a lot going on in the GA world over the last year... and a lot coming up in 2011.

Gregory recorded his first solo album in 14 years about this time in 2009, which was to be released earlier this year. However, Gregg had health issues which required a liver transplant in May and so the release date was delayed a year while he recovered from his operation.

Gregg is doing very well and has just returned to performing (we are currently in the middle of a 3 week northeast tour of sold out Allman Brothers Band shows).

He and Rounder Records, are highly excited about releasing the new album on January 18, 2011 and doing a year or more of heavy U.S. touring with his Gregg Allman & Friends band in it's support, beginning next month, right after christmas.

This includes at least 1 month of European and UK touring next summer (those dates are currently being booked with shows in England, Italy, Sweden, Germany, etc, in the works). If the album does well enough to warrant it, Gregory wants even to go to Australia/New Zealand and possibly Japan.

The album is titled, "Low Country Blues", recorded in Los Angeles, produced by T-bone Burnette, and features performances by Dr. John on piano, guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, bassist Dennis Crouch, and drummer Jay Bellerose.

Except for an original tune written by Gregg with Warren Haynes, it is an album of traditional blues tunes, along with others written by the likes of Muddy Waters, BB King, Skip James, Junior Wells, Bobby Bland, Otis Rush, Magic Sam, Sleepy John Estes, and more... all flavored with horns and Gregory's distinctive vocal and Hammond B-3 organ style.

Hi Dved,

thanks for the heads up!

I hope the tour goes well and you have a great time. Good to see a European leg too! I hope I get chance to catch a gig.

Cheers,

DD

Gregory's new CD sees its official release tomorrow, the 18th, and is currently #1 on the Amazon Blues, Rock, and Pop charts.

For those fans across the 'pond', my latest sceduling update shows English and European dates in late Jun and thru most of July. I'm seeing confirmed performances in England, Spain, Netherlands, and Germany, including several festivals, with many open dates still being booked.

I'll keep you informed as CONFIRMED info comes to me.

Here's a nice biographical piece on Gregory, aired by CBS a couple days ago. If you're quick, you can see me take Gregg's white Strat guitar from him at the very end as he walks off stage from a GA&Friends performance (at the 9:21 mark).

It is with great sadness that The Allman Brothers Band loses a Brother.
Joseph Lawrence "Red Dog" Campbell passed away Monday, February 21, 2011.
Red Dog was one of the original roadies for the Allman Brothers Band.
His picture is memorialized for all time on the back of their seminal "At Fillmore East" album.
Writer/Filmmaker Cameron Crowe included a characterization of Red Dog by name and appearance in his now classic film "Almost Famous".
He will always be remembered by all those who knew him.
The Old Dog is out of the house, howling with his Brothers.

There is no funeral service.
There is in planning stages a memorial on Friday 4/22/ 11 in Macon, GA at Cox Theatre.

Red Dog requested donations to:
Hospice Of Central Georgia
858 High Street
Macon, GA 31201
(912) 749-9161
