Just got the new 'keep on runnin' album and found my favourite track to be 'bonnie' - surprised robben hasnt got this track on his setlist. I just love the tone on his guitar on this track- is this his telecaster?

Hallo Jon,
I'm possitively sure that it ain't the telecaster becaus the sound isn't rough enough ! You can hear this in the beginning of the song.
It's a soft and easy touch that Robben can make at the start, so I think it ain't the tele.
Always ready for saying something stupid....but..... if I'm not right about that you can always correct me......with hard evidence !
Greetings from Brussels,
Fill. _________________ Filmore |

I don't remember which guitar he used for this song. I'll try to remember to ask him for you though. _________________ B C-ing U!

I'm quite sure it's a Tele. Typical Tele sound. |

I know this is the "Robben Ford" discussion group but I must plug Miss Bonnie's latest CD, "Love In the Ruins." It's interesting to listen to her new CD then to their collaboration song, "Bonnie." For all the guitar geeks (myself included) there are fun guitar sounds but not one instrumental solo on Bonnie's CD (one of my long time friends, Steve Kirk, did some guitar on this project). Bonnie is quite a talent and deserves a wider audience. I think Robben fans will enjoy her new work.

You're both right!!!!
Robben says he used the red Baker with the mini soapbars for rhythm and the Tele for lead. He says there is also a light blend of Wurly piano thru a Leslie cab blended in there too.
"Bonnie" is one of my personal favorites too, all the way from the day when Robben first walked into Jackson Browne's studio with the initial cassette working tape of the song which he and Bonnie had just completed the night before... and played the new tune for our reactions. _________________ B C-ing U!
