I didn't see this date on the Tour section of Robben's website, but I heard about it from a pianist I know who is opening up the show with the 2010 winner of the King of the Blues Contest, Randy Scott.

$20 tickets people, so for those local to Socal: you cannot miss this show!

Thanks for the heads up, Danny!

I encourage everyone to post any RF or RG gigs here, as they are rarely posted on the Tour section of his website. I hate to think of how many shows I've missed, just because I didn't know.

I sure could use a good dose of sweet, loud RF about now!

Word on the street is it's being postponed due to want to have a film crew there...

So, um, if this is true that's pretty darn cool.

Here's a setlist from last nights show:

Lovin' Cup
Up The Line
Birdnest Bound (from the new album due out in February, according to Robben)
Nobody's Fault But Mine
Don't Worry 'bout Me
Cannonball Shuffle
Too Much
Earthquake
Travelin' Riverside
Indianola
Further On Up The Road (w/ Randy Scott)
Me And My Woman
Thoughtless
----------------
Spoonful

I've gotta be honest, this was probably the best and most energetic I've ever seen Robben play live. The venue was ridiculously intimate, there truly was not a bad seat in the house. I even got my Charles Ford Band LP from '72 signed!

It was indeed. It was filmed by a company called MAV TV as part of some faux-reality tv show that Randy Scott is taking part in. But seeing as I don't have cable I suppose I'll be crossing my fingers that it gets lifted and put on the internet Wink

Someone has uploaded two songs from the show on youtube... were there problems with the mics? Robben's vocals can't be heard.

Also on youtube, I saw a paid political (republican) ad on a video of RF's Ohne Filter '97 uploaded by musikweltkino. That's not right.

If the videos were filmed from the front row then I would imagine you'd have a hard time with the vocals, the speakers were almost directly overhead. The second and third rows were much more balanced sound-wise.

The sound quality isn't great but the music sure is (in spite of the little flub in Further at 3:28 ).

Further On Up (Down) the Road from a distance:

Indianola and Further On Up the Road from the front row:

Anybody know who that is on bass?

Awww shit, I totally know his name but I can't think of it...I think he and my former guitar instructor exchanged info, I can find out.

And not to bag on Randy Scott, but his entire set was blatant Robben licks. Robben was standing in back watching during the third tune, I told him, "This is Randy Scott doing you!".
