Hey everybody!
I got on here a while back and lost track with so much going on. I've been on guitar since I was a kid and I'm 54 now. Been playing drums just as long and picked up keys in my late teens. Been playing most these years on the road and settled into Omaha about ten years ago. I perform at nursing homes doing acoustic shows, teach in the afternoon and play clubs at night and hit the jam sessions during the week when I can.
About two years ago, I put together a nice little studio out in my garage with a 24 track Tascam and started putting down tracks for a blues album. My drummer gave me a list of "must listen" cds to help in me in my venture and Robben Ford was on the list! I soaked in everything I could from modern blues players, but I had a tough time taking Robben's CDs out of the player in my van. I started doing some research on him and found that he was the guitarist on Tom Scott and the L.A. Express in 74. I remembered buying that CD and hearing these insane guitar solos and chord vamping and knew that I'd found this guitarist who made me put the needle back time and time again on that album so I could hear some incredible guitar work.
Towards the end of my 1st CD, I started putting together songs with chord changes and learned the different modes to compliment these wonderful minor 9th and 13th chords. I finished the CD with mostly covers and knew that the new stuff I was writing would never fit on a traditional blues CD. Project number two came into play and friends told me it had a Steely Dan feel with blues... I was a bit perplexed since I was by now listening to Robben's recordings non-stop.
It's now three years later and I'm getting ready to work on CD number 3 if all goes well. I was lucky to get airplay on blues stations around the world, but the checks rarely come in and not for much! lol I played all the tracks on my CDs, but I have Robben to thank for the influence! If you're interested, you can hear both CDs for free at spotify.com under Charlie and the Fez Kings.
I'm looking forward to learning what I can here and sharing what little I know!

Cheers,
Charlie Glasgow

Great stories, Charlie! Welcome, from a fellow mid-westerner (Des Moines, to be exact) now transplanted in CA!

Feel free to post a link to some of your music if you like.

Jim
