Hi everyone

Could anyone kindly tell me the lyrics of "Oh Virginia".
I have the CD, but it doesn't have the words.

My band will be playing the song and I successfully figured the chord progression out, but I don't know the words......

Thank you so much in advance.

Sure, give me a couple of days. I think I know most of them, but let me check it compared to what I know.
Don't stop playing it man, that song has a great hook.
I was trying to cop the chords to "Top Down Blues" and could never get any
help either. All good.
Will reply back once i get it all written out brother.

Nick

The lead sheet and lyrics for "Top Down Blues" is on Robben's website. Didn't see one for "Oh Virginia".

I have the first verse down for Oh Virginia. Pretty clear and easy, but I need time without someone tapping my shoulder. I will have the rest shortly.

I saw the songsheet for Top Down and was syked, but when I tried to play what was there it doesn't sound right. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I don't usually try and read the score to lead, so I am fumbling around too much to bother.

Oh Virginia

Oh Virginia, there's a lot to be said
For when the day is done and we go off to bed
We can make our own light, in the deep of the night
Naturally
But if the rain leaks thru the roof
Will your love be waterproof?
When things don't come easy,
Will you still look to ease me?
Won't you wear my clothes?
Spend the night with cold toes
Go where the wind blows me
Take what the times throw me
Oh Virginia

Oh Virginia, It feels good together
I've been an unstable man
And had a run of bad weather
But from right where you are
Think I might see a star
Over you and me
But if words could make you blind
Is there a chance you'll change your mind
If someone should accuse me
Would you turn and refuse me?
Would you take my part?
And keep the faith in your heart
Know that I'm for real
Nothing to conceal
Oh Virginia

Oh Virginia
I am ready indeed
To give all I've got
I can follow on lead
For the good times or less
I would always say yes
To you and me
But if the hard times linger on
Is there a chance I'll find you gone?
Would I awake to a letter
Says you looking for better
Or would you stand by me?
Oh Virginia, cause you can count on me
Oh,my, Virginia,
Oh Virginia

Hope this does the trick. I completely expect you to post a soundcloud or sample of your band playing this brother!! lol

Enjoy

I took another look at that when I got done with the lyrics Frank. I made a proper attempt at the staff, but that sounds like the trombone part. I am struggling to match the Ab (etc) up high....I am scouring my Mickey Baker Vol1 cause I know RF pulled the chords from the black book.

I do so much better learning off someone in person....all good!

I know what you mean, Nick. Robben uses some really great chord voicings, but they can be challenging for us mere mortals! Very Happy
