The International Blues Challenge is an annual competition sponsored by The Blues Foundation. About 80 unsigned blues bands from around the world will compete in the finals in Memphis January 29-31 for cash and prizes and the title of "Best Unsigned Blues Band." Band are usually nominated for the competition by their local blues societies (Blues Foundation affiliates). There is more info on The Blues Foundation website (www.blues.org). The January issue of King Biscuit Time has articles about many of the bands that will be competing this year, and also a nice story on Delta Moon, last year's IBC winner.

I will be there along with the band we are sponsoring Danny White and the Blues Revue. If you have never been it is worth planning a trip it is truly a unique experience with a long list of Alumni and future stars. Speaking of which there will be a future star appearing at one of the Blues First Convention events. Joe Bonamassa if you haven't had a chance to see him he will be touring the country starting in Jan. he is a 26 year old guitar phenom along with a dynamic rythum section that is one of the most intense blues rock trios I've seen in the last 35 years. Come on out to Memphis if you can you won't regret it.
