Sitting on the rail in front of DeWayne were a couple of overserved baffoon's who thought that what they had to say was more important than the very cool "cool down" of It Don't Make Sense. They continued to talk thru the amazing sax solo, so low, so quiet, you could hear every breath and a couple of big unappreciative mouths. A couple too fried to realize that their day of being relevant is over.
The younger generation is in to Robben; however, the crowd at Yoshi's did not support that ... I brought two 15 year old boys - a guitar player and a bass player -- who were inspired and mesmerized by the whole event. They simply did not take their eyes off the stage. I appreciate Yoshi's willingness to cater to the young musician. Kids today need to see and hear this stuff.
I'll be seeing Robben again without the boys only because it's a 21 and older requirement ... too bad! |

I guess I am not the only one who gets annoyed at people who talk during a performance...I always flash my, "Cut it out!" teacher look. (Hey, it doesn't always work in my classroom either!) _________________ www.elizabethgage.com |

I am still on Cloud 9. After following Robben around for 28 years (ever since seeing him at "The Fifth Quarter" in Cupertino (or Sunnyvale), California), I finally got to talk to him and get his autograph. This just may have been the best Robben show yet! He just keeps getting better. I wish his brothers would've showed up to jam with him. Will that happen? |

Bunnylover, Patrick and Mark were at the Saturday 8 PM, and Mark played again for the 10 PM. (They will probably both be there tonight.) _________________ www.elizabethgage.com |

Hi Liza,
Let's see. There was "Badge", "Don't Make No Sense", "Buy You a Chevrolet", "Cannonball Shuffle", "Start It Up", something off Blue Moon called "Indianapolis" or something - ha! Don't laugh. That was after a beer and a white russian. Hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did! |

I'm not great with details, but the songs I remember over the shows I saw were:
Up the line
Indianola
The way you treated me
It don't make sense
Chevrolet
Keep on Running
Homework
Badge
Cannonball Shuffle
Help the Poor
Start it up (a couple of times)
I think I heard 'Over my Head' once and when Pat and Mark sat in they played Prison of Love. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

Robben also played "Moon Dog Blues" on Thurs nite at Yoshi's and Tuesday nite at the Mystic. Fabulous tune and groove that he's played for a while. Hope he records this on his next album! |

I was once at a gig in my home town and a whole row of people were discussing what lip gloss they thought Mandy would suit during a slow blues played by UK folkster John Martyn. Luckily there were seats upstairs, so I was able to sit in the middle up there but it wasn't the same. I was 9 rows back from the stage and had perfect sound and vision. if people must talk about such things, go to a nearby pub and do it, not during a concert. I mean, it makes no sense and gets right on my t*ts! _________________ To the world you may just be one person - but to one person you may just be the world. |

I can't stand that...and it was Moonchild Blues he played (I'm a moonchild!)
I have always thought about bringing a little sign that says, "Please, shhhhh...this is a once-in-a-lifetime-thing." _________________ www.elizabethgage.com |

Just to add to that sentiment, you never know if it is a once in a lifetime thing for the person next to you. For instance, I have never seen Robben in a live concert. I have been to a workshop with him, and I got to meet him afterward(he IS the nice guy that everyone says), but I've never been able to see him play a concert live. I would be real upset if someone was doing a play by play next to me. I want to hear everything!

If you go to see Robben with us, we can promise you that you will hear ROBBEN, and nothing about lip gloss, sprinklers, or any other irrelevent nonsense!
