A question to all of you guitarists more accomplished than me (not difficult ) -

How do you start to build a song, with a chord structure and/or solo from a few lines?. I often come up with a little riff, or a sequence of notes - a melody I guess, but where I get stuck is the next stage. How do I create a chord sequence that 'complements' this riff or line. This has always puzzled me, and afterwards if you do put some chords behind it and develop it into a 'song' what are the basics for choosing a scale or set of scles that you can implement as the basis for a solo, or extending the melody line over the backing.

Big open question but I have faith in you Smile

Cheers

Simon

Cool Big deal Srammel, how to make all the sounds in the head comin' to a beautiful tune?????
For me the best is singing : the melody (if it happens) come out logically & easyly (sometimes) , and like it's difficult to do both at the same time, the chord choice is restricted ( which is not bad in asense).

After my first attempts , i was very glad . Then i realized that instead of my classy expectations i've done kind of Cheap rock'n roll and basic blues.

Anyway these are from mine . Choosing a positive attitude i think it will lead one step further.

And if you take a look at Moonchild blues : it's like a little gem.

Hope i helped . See ya Blob
