Hello from the frigid depths of STL. Since I discovered the Blue Line several years ago I had eagerly awaited thier arrival. Now I can't blame anyone for not coming(one of the highest murder rates in the country) but I had hoped they would show. I had seen Robben with David Sanborn,a STL native, a few years ago, which was around the time of "The David Sanborn Show. WHAT A GREAT TV SHOW IT WAS! Finally on Feb 19 he will be perfoming at a club called Blueberry Hill.I don't know if Roscoe Beck and Tom are on the road with him or not. I sure hope so. I first discovered him when he was working with Tom Scott and the LA Express. I was completely blown away at his sophistcated yet pure soulful playing. As a guitar player my earliest influences were Mike Bloomfield,Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. This was in the lat sixties-early seventies.I followed right into the jazz stream where i began to realize that music theory was an absolute.Since those days Robben has been been the MVP of guitar players for me. Although we all know there are TOO MANY great guitar players to name he always leaves me with a great anticipation of what he will do next. I will post a revue of his show on the 19th here in STL. Sorry for being so long winded,my first post on this site.
Just joking about folks not wanting to come to STL. We have a much better music scene here now than we did when i was playing full time, but I'll save that boring story for another time.
