Am I crazy,or is the floppy pullout record(Outlaw Blues) that came in that issue of Guitar Player that had Robben on the cover(after the release of Talk to Your Daughter)some really great playing?I guess it's an outtake from the Talk To Your Daughter sessions, but the solo is burnin'.Is it available anywhere else(that record is not the greatest quality)?
Robben once said that there were two or three tunes he had done with Joni Mitchell for her Don Juan's Reckless Daughter album.Robben with Jaco.Who wouldn't want to hear that?Anybody know how to get those outtakes?

I love that recording! The solo Robben does is so tasty that even though I lost that pull out in the late eighties I can still sing it today. I was able to get a copy of it a few months ago and I still love it.

You're right, that floppy from guitar player was awesome. Back in '98 during the Tiger Walk tour, I asked Robben about this subject after the show in Pittsburgh, PA. I've always been crazy about the playing Robben did on Outlaw Blues and asked him about the possibilities of finding it or if he would ever record it on a future album. Though I can't remember verbatim what he told me, he basically said that the person in charge of what goes on the finished product of whatever Blue Line album this song would have appeared on didn't include it. Robben used the word "jive" when describing this person. Robben also told me it would'nt be on any future releases. Sorry guys, but that's it from the horses mouth. By the way, I just had the pleasure of seeing Robben last night as the Keep on Running tour came through Pittsburgh. It was my 4th or 5th time seeing Robben and he was better than ever. Do not miss this tour.
