I was browsing the old site Embarassed .

I noticed that it credited Robben with an album called 'Words and Music' !

It is supposed to have been released in 1988 and was awarded 3 stars.

I've never heard of it. Anyone know anything about it ??

.....also, several years ago, a friend of mine bought an unknown album of Robben's. This was when was working on a cruise ship, he's a pro bass player, at a port of call.
He returned the album to the shop (don't ask), but remembers that Robben was holding a sax on the cover, but not the title.
Any ideas about this album ?

You're probably referring to Schizophonic and I agree that its great that he plays guitar and not the sax anymore.

My guess is there is some miscommunication or something. I would bet that it was either Robben holding a "guitar" and your friend remembers incorrectly or it was someone else on the cover with a sax. I just don't think there is an album with Robben on the cover with a sax. It is possible, but there is so little recorded music with Robben playing a sax that I'd have to see it to believe it.

On the back cover of Schizophonic, there is great b&w shot of someone (presumably Robben) holding a guitar. He appears to be looking in a mirror and seeing himself holding a saxophone, which echoes the title: Schizophonic.

Robben is credited with guitar and sax on the album, and Paul Nagle is credited with keyboards. Stan Poplin is on bass, Jim Baum on drums if you were curious.

My advice: buy them all. There isn't a bad one in the bunch, and I happen to like Robben's sax playing.
