I've been listening to Robbens CDs the last couple of yrs. I'm getting ready to attend my first live performance next Thurs. at the Ram's Head Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland. I'm looking forward to it. My question to anyone out there is this; Does Robben make himself available before, during or after his shows to meet his fans and to sign autographs. I'm hoping to get him to sign a Tele pickguard for my personal collection. A lot ot the artists I've gone to see make themselves available (i.e.- Joe Bonamassa, Tommy Castro) Kirk refered me to Daved, Robbens Tech. I'm just trying to learn my way around the Forum. Thanks Mitch |

My experience has been that Robben almost always makes himself available after a show for autographs and handshakes. |

I stood around patiently with an entire Tele at one of the recent Yohshi's shows. After talking to Elizabeth and a line of other folks for a bit, Robben made a point of turning around and asking me where on the axe I wanted him to sign. In my experience Robben is exceptional in making an effort to meet and greet fans. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

I attended one of the Yoshi's shows a while back (met Elizabeth, also) and Robben came out after the show, signed pretty much everything put in front of him including the black bakelite Tele pickguard that is framed on my wall. Now, if I could find someone to get me one of his guitar picks!

Hi Ian...Daved is fabulous about giving them...just ask. (I have a nice little collection of them...if you get really stuck, I can share.)

I plan on going to a couple of his shows when he is back in the area (hopefully at Yoshi's again, great place!) and I'll try. I probably should drag you over with me to help! I just want to get it in the frame with my signed pickguard and ticket stub. I'm a geek like that, what can I say?!

I shot a few rolls of film of Robben playing here at the Cubby Bear in Chicago(91 or 92?).It seems like the cream were like the very last three or four shots.Really nice.So I printed a few 11x14s real pretty, even sepia toned them slightly.I walked into a sound check about a year later in the same place(you know, with that"I belong here"look on my face)and just waited and listened with my photos in a box.A guy who turned out to be Dal finally said"we really don't like to have people in during the soundcheck".I explained my quest quickly while providing the visuals. He said that maybe I should stick around and show them to Robben.Well,he signed my copy and I gave him one.He asked for my business card(which I didn't have). So I wrote my name and number on the back(his suggestion). He actually had to point out a couple numerals and ask "what's that number?".I said"listen,I'm a little nervous". Anyway, that connection led to four of my photos getting published in the book that goes with his first instructional video(to be purchased seperately). You know, where he has short hair, blue shirt and looks like he's on someone's front porch. He is such a down to earth guy and even introduced me to someone he was talking to once by saying "this guy is a GREAT photographer!".I would love to tour with him and do a book in the future. |
