Daved,
A long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away) you posted the settings you typically start Robben off with when you set up a Red Knob Twin for him. Now after all of these years I can't find them.
Can you remember what they are? I'm not trying to necessarily copy that sound precisely but I'd like a good starting point and not having much luck for some reason.
Thanks!

Sorry, Jim, don't have those settings handy over here, but I'm sure someone here can dig them up for you.

AND ONE MORE THING... let's talk settings, shall we? As soon as I signed off and went back to my spring cleaning, wouldn't ya know th very first thing I ran across were those RedKnob settings I had just mentioned. So... THINBLUE: We haven't used Twins since my first European tour almost 3 years ago so all I can tell you is what my notes say. I have 2 settings. The first is the one I know I always set the RedKnob at and then Robben would come in and fine tune at sound check. His changes were very slight, depending on the room, if at all. They are (L-R) 3357-365303-4. But remember, this is a European amp on European 220V power. Now, the other setting I have is because I lied. I had forgotten until I saw my setting notes that we did actually use a RedKnob Twin in the States once shortly after coming back from Europe. I don't clearly remember the occasion, but it seems we were trying some differant rig setups and for a brief time (a VERY brief time) used a Twin along with the Dumble. My notes indicate that this setting was used only as a solo setting of some sort... but it's just another setting that you might want to mess with: (L-R) 7553-673417-2. - - - - - ALSO OF INTEREST: Going thru my notes I see that in the my earliest days with Robben he used to drive his Dumble quite a bit harder than he does now. Back then he rode his Volume at 8, the Overdrive at 5-6, and the Master/Presence at 5-4. But, for almost 2 years now he has dropped to 5 for V, 4-4for O/D and 3-3 for M/P. His EQ has consistently remained at T4-M5-B4. |
